JCW Tuning Kit Question

Can anyone out there with the JCW Tuning Kit and E-SYS knowledge check their FA/VO for an option code corresponding to the kit?

I would expect to see "NPOW" under the HO-WORT section.

Additionally, what do your "Driving Excitement" sport gauges read for max hp and ft-lb?

The reason I ask is, I think the dealer did not flash my DME with the new tune, as there is no record of the tuning kit in the FA/VO, and I have verified with someone more familiar with BMWs that there should be an entry if the kit was properly installed.

Thanks!

Got the JCW pro turning Kit but don't have he upgraded multimedia screen. Not sure how to check what you're looking for. Somehow I'm also having issues with my P.M.

My excitment screen shows the additional power settings e.g 240 hp and 320 NM torque which is how I've set the measurement.

Not with my car right now so mine might be the same as above.

I do know it went up after the kit was installed

I don't think I've looked at that particular display but once since I've had the car. And that was by accident.

Thanks all.

I think I have more than enough evidence that the tune was not installed properly.

I know for a fact that the Power and Torque figures on the Driving Excitement gauges are communicated by the DME (Engine) and EGS (Transmission) modules.

I'll be reaching out to my advisor to rectify the situation, as they also mounted the tailgate badge on the wrong side :-(

I'll update the thread with the final resolution.

Motor on!

The Mini installation instructions for the kit even had detailed instructions on how and where to install the badge and also the sticker on the engine. Clearly whomever did the install, didn't follow them if they even got that wrong.

I have always suspected that owners who have had the kit installed and commented that they noticed very little increase in power and performance did not have the engine tune actually installed by the service department.

When I asked my service manager if I would be getting my car back the same day he informed me the flash alone was pretty much an all day deal. My car was in the dealers hands for the better part of two days before I got it back (dropped the car off first thing on a Tuesday and got the car back late Wednesday afternoon).

After driving it, butt-dyno told me I was driving a different car than the one I'd dropped off. Huge smile on my face after that install.

Luckily we don't have to always take the dealers word for it. E-SYS is factory floor software and can expose the necessary information in these situations.

I was simply FDL programming a few options (key fob rolls up windows) and decided to give the VO a look when I noticed no entry for the kit.

It would still be beneficial If anyone having E-SYS knowledge could take a look at their car's VO for a Tuning kit entry (I'll definitely be checking after the dealer fix).

Feel free to PM me if you need ESYS help. :-)

Thanks!

Ranger,

I'm picking my car back up tomorrow and can confirm the power figures after the fix.

Are you familiar with E-SYS?

I will also provide the expected FA/VO option codes in case anyone ever needs/wants to confirm.

I have had mine on the dyno and it made 227 bhp post JCW tuning kit.

I did feel a difference after fitting but would say the power/torque is more felt in the mid range rather than top end in my opinion

Update: went to the dealer this morning and no one there knew anything about it, I exolained to them everything posted here and the dealer manager told me he was going to call me back in 2 hours to let me know. So far it has been 4 hours and no one has called me from the dealet.

I am beyond mad because when they installed the kit they kept the car for 3 day and now they dont seem to care about the issue, if the dealer dont call me back I will call Mini corporate and demand a full refund of my money, I oaid 2700 for this kit because it was OEM and I wanted to have peace of mind and so far All i see is triuble.

Guys please if anyone has the software to connect to the car pls private message me the link to download it.

Thanks

After the fix, the Driving Excitement gauges now read the proper figures.

I haven't had a chance to read the FA/VO, but will follow up with the results.

Thank you so much!!!

I am currently at the dealer because all techs and advisors here are telli g me that it is a glitch and they have to contact mini jcw team for a solution. I showed him this page forum and they are still refusing that they did something wrong, right now I am waiting for the manager.

Could you please share the service order so I can show it to them? I mean the paperwork of the repair?

Update:

Dealer had a brand new Cooper S with the tuning kit on the showroom, the manager went and see it and he confirmed the issue.

He called Mini and they told him they don't want the dealer to install the tuning because they already messed up once and they don't want that to happen again so Mini will be connecting to my car remotely and the engineers there will do the tuning.

Bad news: they told me it could not be done today :/ Probably tomorrow

Glad to hear you are getting sorted.

Worst part is that you and many others out there might not have got what you paid for and be none the wiser!

True! And thats what I told the manager that after all money I paid the least he could do is test another car or call mini which he did but i had to spent 4 hours at the dealer to get him to confirm that to me.

I really hope more people see this thread so they can check their cars and get it fix if needed
