Looking for Car Cover - F56

I am looking for a good indoor outdoor cover for my two-door F-56 S. The covers that the dealers sell seem to be overpriced for the quality but I could be wrong. What brand do you recommend?

PS: Car is mostly weekend pleasure and, unfortunately, stored outside until I can get more garage space.

Some of the ones we had in checkered are NLA , but were for mostly in doors.

To buy a car cover is o.k. as long as you're fully aware of the pros and cons of having one. Imagine me wiping down your car (whether dirty or clean) with a dry towel. This is what's happening to your paint on a windy day with a car cover. I would be tempted to leave it uncovered and just wash it a little more frequently.

That is exactly what I'm struggling with. My car sits outside all the time. There aren't any trees where I work, so I'm afraid it'll just bake in the sun during the summer. I want it mostly for uv protection. I know waxing and permaplating helps against sun and bird droppings damaging my paint, but what about the black trim and weather stripping?

You have to make sure you have your car very clean before you put the cover on. The underneath of the MINI ones are very soft and are form fitted so they will not flap around in the wind like some aftermarkets.

But they're a real bear to install by yourself. Much easier and less chance of scratches with two people, both on installation and removal.

Hi Jim,

It's the Two-Tone Weathershield HP....Outdoor Cover (but you could use it anywhere of course). As stated in a catolog, "Protection from acid rain, dust, dirt & intense sunlight. Plus, it's 1/3 less bulky than traditional car covers."

If I had a car parked outside all the time I'm not sure I'd use this cover though....I'd probably go with an Evolution 4 type cover....much heavier. I think the Weathershield is great for occasional outdoor use, as I carry mine in the boot in a bag that you can buy with the cover....doesn't take up much room. It might be fine for constant outdoor use though, since I doubt it would cause any rub marks, typical of most covers (since it fits so tightly and is very thin)....I just don't have any experience using it outdoor all the time.

I believe Covercraft does make a similar, but heavier, outdoor cover too. It will be bulkier however.

Hope this helps,

John
