Siri in Mini?

I haven't managed to get Siri to work at all in my '15 MCS with the basic radio setup.

Siri displays "Go ahead, I'm listening" on the screen of my iPhone 5s but does not respond to any of my normal voice requests while in the car. The iPhone itself is paired with the car for phone calls, and I've played tunes on the car's speakers from the iPhone (cabled). So what am I missing for a Siri connection?

I also have a 2015 MCS hardtop with the HK audio system and visual boost. I'm pretty sure you have to have mini connected and Bluetooth to be able to use Siri. I have both in my car and am able to use Siri on my 5s. Also, it requires a long push on the steering wheel call button to connect to Siri assuming that you have mini connected.

No Siri integration without Media Package. No voice commands either - the button doesn't do anything on the base radio.

I have the full multimedia setup in my 2016. I can hold down the speak button on the steering wheel to access siri, it works great. (if I just press the speak button, I get the BMW lady for media options).

Sailorlite,
Ive also got a 15 F55 MCS . with upgrade to H/K but no other tech. It seems that 15 and 16s (maybe 14) Bluetooth doesn't integrate with Siri . Of course no one at dealer mentioned this ! Ive talked with Mini corporate about it , no real resolution although dealer is considering a swap. Issue is, that the Mini Bluetooth seems to "disable " siri - Not cool. While not mispresentation on part of dealer, is clearly lack of disclosure.

just happened to CA buddy who was furious. Dealer took car back and gave him more expensive model with media package for same price.

If you have an F series with base radio- so no Siri function through Bluetooth- be sure to register official complaint with Mini Customer Relations as, apparently, number of complaints affects possible response.

I had it work in the MINI Nav XL screen fine. But for the Base stereo i had to use the siri on the phone to activate, then worked through the speakers, not through the HU.

That's the issue. Will not work with base radio. Worse, when phone is paired to car, car microphone does not work with Siri and microphone on phone is disabled. This is a technology downgrade from earlier models (e.g my 2013 MCS with base radio works fine). Appears to be a BMW brand wide change. That is the complaint that should be registered so it shows up on the MINI/BMW owner complaint/issues analytics.

Has anyone with F56 BASE RADIO (no Nav, no mini connect, no enhanced Bluetooth) gotten any recent feedback from Mini/BMW
as to available update/upgrade/fix for non-functioning Siri with BT connection?

Its frustrating for sure. When my phone is connected via BT, I cant even use the dictation feature to reply to messages. 2016 Hardtop, no navi, just base radio with satellite.

Be sure to post a complaint on the Mini Facebook page and call Mini /BMW customer service. It appears complaint numbers are a big factor in whether and when issues get addressed,

I just bought a 2016 MCS with basic radio. I am having this exact issue, it's very annoying. Supposedly it had a software upgrade before I took delivery. I had a 2013 Countryman with basic radio and everything worked as it should. The only difference in my set up is the car.

Siri only works with the Media Package or Wired Package on 2014-2016 F5x cars.

Base radio does not get you voice command or Siri integration unless you have a 2017+ with the base Media Package 6.5" screen.

Not a defect, simply a planned functionality issue to get more people to opt for the Media Package.

Correct is a BMW brand wide downgrade. I spent hours in communication with Mini and dealer, and finally got confirmation of status.

Please register a complaint with your dealer and Mini.

There is some theory on this site that the issue can be programmed away. Over my pay grade, and Mini denies.

False. The streaming/siri connectivity doesn't exist without the upgraded Media package.

Time to deal with it and move on, you're wasting your time.

Does this work:
Re-Code for Enhanced Bluetooth:
Change FA (VO) to Remove 6NH from VO & Add 6NS to VO
VO Code HU_ENTRY & CMB_MEDIA (or just HU-NBT)
Read FA(VO)àActivate FA(VO)àRead SVTàRight-Click ECU & Select
Code
Now Proceed to code HU_ENTRY & CMB_MEDIA (or just HU_NBT)
Modules … or re-code if coding was already present
IF YOU NEED TO DO THE ABOVE … FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR “HOW TO
CHANGE FA” in my BMW Coding Beginner’s Guide. This needs to be done FIRST …
meaning before you perform FDL Coding or Changing Werte Values

And why not register complaint with Mini. PS: I've moved on well, thank you.
