New Mini Owner Introductions

I know its a bad pic, but its the only one I have right now :P

Hi everyone,

My name is Duncan, and I just bought a 6 speed 2015 Cooper S in electric blue with black carbon interior. It has quite a few options (nav and heads up display included) but no adaptive dampers (actually a plus for me).

I have been into old BMWs for my entire life, and when my girl and I looked into getting a new car, I couldn't stand the price looks or lack of manual transmission cars on the lot of the BMW dealers around the area. So we went to the Mini dealer (I had always wanted a Mini, I think they are cool). So we went for a test drive of a red 4 door, but we really wanted an electric blue 2 door. When we came back from the test drive there was the car sitting in front of the dealership, (a woman had to go back to the UK and had to give it back). So we test drove it and the rest is history.

Anyway, I am excited to be part of the community!

Thank you! Good to see you guys on here! I have spent my fair share of time on the BMW side of your site. I do love the looks of my Mini, definitely makes it look more classic.

Thank you! Yours is quite nice as well. It looks like you have had a hardtop of each platform? Which one was your favorite?

Thanks! I understand, British Racing Green is awesome. It was also on the shortlist of colors we would get.

Welcome, and congrats on the purchase! I have an Electric Blue one too. When I pulled up at the dealership to look, the first one I saw was EB, and I just had to have one that color!

Yes it does. I must say your stripes look good. Mine doesn't have any, been considering them though.

One of my favorite colors. Congrats on the new ride. They do have a "Mini BMW" feel.

New 2015 Mini Cooper Owner

Thought I'd say hello--been lurking and posting a bit, and love the forum. Traded my 2012 Cooper in on a 2015 Cooper 6 speed last week. Premium package, Cold weather package, Media Package and Sport Package. White silver with black roof, mirror caps and 17" wheels. Amazing change from my 12. Love the torque!! Sorry about the garage pic......too cloudy and rainy.Greetings from Tennessee.

Nice! The sports package has adaptive dampers right? What do you think of them? I didn't want adaptive because coilovers are in my future, but they are quite interesting.

The dampers are cool. All I can say is that it rides very smooth for having 17" rims and 45 series run flats. I was concerned it might be a bit rough on the old bones, but no problem. It is a go cart compared to my 2012 Cooper. In all fairness though the '12 had 16" and 55 series tires and no sport package.

Yeah, the car with 17" rims is certainly more comfortable than my old e46, even though it had 16" rims, I am amazed run flats have come so far

I really love the color combination. That white silver looks really nice and I bet it stays clean pretty well.

Thanks--yes it does not show dust or dirt much at all. Keep thinking the headlight rings and chrome surround on the grille need to be black. Also like to see a splash of red somewhere to set it all off. Maybe the caliper covers. It's a nicer color in person, than I thought after just seeing it online.

You're welcome. That's why I love silver, it hides so much. My car is 12 years old and silver. It hides so many bumps, scratches and always seems to stay cleaner than most cars. Even when it's dirty, it looks clean. The chrome doesn't look too bad, I kind of like it. I do think the black would look good. You could always go for the JCW front grille, but it has the JCW logo and I'm not sure you can remove it. It has a red stripe that goes across it. Or you could do the JCW side indicator scuttle, which is a black checker flag with a red accent - 51142355377. Your side blinker just goes right over it. Just some other options.

This is a great color combo, what mods or OEM parts do you have in mind ?

Thanks, I'll look into those. There's a dash of red! Your silver has held up really well!

At my age, this thing is fast enough, so the mods will be purely cosmetic.
