New Clubman

Got a chance to see the new Clubman in person. What a nice car with some very cool little features. Puddle lamps and driver side door mirror lamp show MINI logo on the ground. Interior is very nice. Plenty of front and rear leg room w/ e power seats, and some monster storage. When I ran the driver seat all the way back, @ 6'2" I could not adequately reach the pedals or steering wheel well enough to drive. Sat in the rear seats and entry and exit was great. Plenty of leg room, Three adults in the back seat (not so much) Two full sized and a small child maybe. Leather seats were Niiiiice! This is a little SUV for all intents IMO. Still looks like a MINI all the way, so I think it's a great addition. Hoping some of the design ques and appointments bleed down to the F55 and F56 in the next year or two.

Every thing is still pretty much MINI with the lighting, controls and gauges. The car is really solid. As much as I like the car, I really am quite satisfied with the 2015 F56 we own (next one will be a JCW fully loaded).

Dealership had a special showing of the new Clubman and arranged the intro as an event after normal hours. The Dealership did a great job of staging the entire thing with a DJ, and a buffet with some great food and drinks for everyone

My rant.

The invitation from the dealership specifically asked that no cell phones or other recording devices be brought to the showing. So we left ours in the car as requested.

Well, when we got there pretty much every SOB had a cell phone taking pix and movies of the entire event. WTF, kind of a country do we live in where the fricking people can't even obey a simple request by someone inviting them a special event? We are not talking teenagers, unruly adolescents, or mentally challenged individuals, I'm talking grown adults (if only measured by age). Again showing how our culture has become so self absorbed and inconsiderate with a "rules don't apply to me" mentality.

Dealership could do nothing to stop it either short of throwing people out or confiscating the phones. Just inconsiderate, self-centered princes (and I'm not spelling the word correctly on purpose)

End of rant.

Invite provided for your perusal. Seems to be be pretty cut and dried to me.

Hello Family and Friends,

We cordially invite you to a very exclusive showing of our new Clubman.

It will take place on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 6pm here at our home MINI of XXXXXXXXX.

Refreshments will be served at the unveiling.

We respectfully ask that there be no phones, cameras or photographic devices at this very private showing.

Your friends at MINI of XXXXXXXX

It seems silly to not allow pictures or videos to be taken when the car has already been plastered all over the internet.

But its the principle of the matter, I'm sure.

Its cool you got to see it in person though...haven't heard anything from my MINI dealership, so I'm a little jealous.

I feel like the JCW Clubman will end up being my next car...

If anyone's looking to see the new Clubman up close, and happens to be in the NJ area - it'll be at Princeton MINI from 1-7PM tomorrow (Tuesday).

Agree with the rant, however Mini wants all the pictures that can possibly be taken and then sent out to all your friends and relatives. They tell you not to bring phones but hope you will.

Not quite getting the reverse psychology aspect here. Although that would explain people with a cart full of groceries in the express 10 items or less line.

No the cart full of groceries is explained by your original rant. People are mostly inconsiderate a**holes.

Sounds like fun, most dealerships are in line for New Clubman parties. I went the one when the 2008 Clubman came out back in the day. Great times.

I wonder why they didn't want photos. Seems like all the other dealers I've seen run the event were posting all sorts of photos from the event on their social network pages.
