Bluetooth Pairing Speed

I've recently switched from an iPhone 5 to a Samsung S6 Edge, and I've noticed that bluetooth pairing is much slower on the Samsung - taking up to 30 seconds to pair once the car is started versus the iPhone being almost instantaneous.

Has anybody else made this switch from iOS to Android and noticed this? The S6 was recently updated to Android 5.1.1, with no change to the bluetooth pairing performance.

Running a Samsung Note 4, Android 5.0.1, no issues. By the time I am ready to reverse, the phone is paired and if I have Spotify open it is streaming.

Android here. I've found that my MINI takes about 15-20 seconds to register my phone and continue to play my audiobook where I left off.

Which is fine considering it takes about that time to back out of my driveway and set off on my morning commute.

I never had an IPhone so no comparison from me, but our LG takes roughly 20-30 seconds to pair and be ready for use.

Question regarding the Bluetooth capability: Do F56's with the basic radio (no upgrade package) even have the ability to play music via Bluetooth?

I've figured out how to get music onto my iPhone 5s and play it in the car via a USB/Lightning cable, but would much prefer a wireless connection if possible. I manage to do the telephone Bluetooth pairing - just not the music. Do I need a more capable radio package next time?

thanks for the quick responses; removing the other phones in the car's memory seems to have sped up pairing time (suggestion from an android forum). I think it might cycle through each bluetooth connection on start-up, and since my new phone was the 3rd one down - it was taking a little longer to get to.

I think you may need to have the upgraded radio for this - there was some discussion in the mini coding/programming forum on coding the base radio to allow this, but I don't think it got anywhere...

I think the 2016s may have added bluetooth audio?

In Canada it has this listed as standard Media Connect - Bluetooth & USB
In the USA it has this listed as standard Bluetooth and USB/iPod adapter

But maybe you need the enhanced bluetooth.

You need the Wired/Connected XL package for Bluetooth streaming. Not sure why they didn't add it to begin with as it is not much more to do on top of the phone stuff already standard in the car. However if you have an 'i' device, iPhone, iPod, iTouch...etc, you should be able to stream through the usb/aux cable. Not sure what control you get through the radio, like ff, rew, pause, play and such.

My Droid Maxx (almost 2 years old now) pairs almost instantly upon startup. It may help that the Bluetooth on the phone is only paired with my car and nothing else. Pretty vanilla set up.

Mine pairs too well at times. My indi mechanic was on the other side of the shop working on my car and every time he turned on the ignition the car tried to hijack my phone. He was a good 20-30 yards away. iPhone 6

iPhone 4 , 5, and 6 pairs pretty fast on the F56 w/ media. On the older R56 and R53 cars the pairing was slower. On the R53 factory Bluetooth was very slow , but it was a very early Bluetooth system.
