Hi,
i have a quick question for my fellow motorers, I am looking into purchasing the mini extended service contract for my 2015 MCS 4 dr hardtop, and wanted to see what others have purchased them for. I'm looking at the 7 yr/100k XXL contract, but would be interested what plan you have and price paid and also where purchased would be helpful. I appreciate the help. I have tried the search the forums, but couldn't find anything close to date that provided me with my answer.
Thanks,
nathan
I would get quotes from several sources including those outside of the MINI franchise. There are some big companies out there that provide this service and it can be quite competitive. One of the big ones that comes to mind is Zurich. I know that a lot of the Toyota dealers use Zurich. It would be worth your time to check out all possibilities before you buy.
In my opinion NO third party service warranties provide value except for lining the pockets of the seller. I know you'll hear anecdotal evidence of situations where they paid off, but I'd suggest you only consider factory extended warranties.
Reasonable men can argue the virtues of factory contracts, but most agree you should run from third party solutions.
Genuine factory extended warranties are often sold by dealerships over the web. I live in Mass and have bought two Mercedes extended service from a Mercedes dealer in Calif. The discount was around 40% from my dealers asking price - LOTS of margin in these things.
I'm planning on running my Mini until it dies so I got the extended fully comprehensive warranty from MINI Financial. Since I drive less than 10K a year I got 7yrs or 60K for $2000 or so. (Can't remember the exact sum).
Essentially I now have complete peace of mind that no matter what goes wrong I'm covered for 7 years. Very happy with that.
Extended warranties aren't for everyone, but If you're like me and plan on keeping the car for a long time then I think it's worth it. Let's face it - MINI's aren't that reliable.

I can't remember what I paid, but I was in the same mindset when I purchased my MINI last year. I also purchased the tire & wheel plan. I've already used the tire plan once for a replacement no questions a month ago. Peace of mind is a good thing.
Here's what I paid for the maintenance upgrade and tire and wheel coverage. I drive a ton, so it didn't make sense for me to get the full extended warranty and have it end sooner anyway.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the numbers you are citing, for instance 7 years 100,000 miles, in reality is only 3 years or 50,000 miles. The car comes with a 4 year 50,000 mile warranty from the factory so you need to deduct that. IF you look at it from that perspective I think it puts a much different twist on it.
Well that's good that you are. Some folks may miss it and it's an important component of the overall cost especially if you paying higher costs than what you were able to enjoy.

I would have paid these prices. Good on you for getting these. Did you have to push or they offered?
In fact, I still would pay these prices, I've only had my new MINI for about 3 weeks.
Thanks for the information, I appreciate everyone's help. I ended up purchasing the warranty today from Mini of S.F., who made it a quick and painless process. Much different experience than when I tried to purchase the warranty locally last saturday in raleigh.
