Carpet/Upholstery cleaner

Guys/Gals,

What do you guys recommend using for cleaning the upholstery and freshening up the carpet? I don't like strong scents and I'd prefer to keep my car smelling like a car without those weird funky scents that begin to develop with use. So what do you guys use?

Thanks! -Clint

I just used Spot Shot on the '02 Buick getting it ready to sell. The results are outstanding. There's no eating or drinking in the MINI so haven't needed it there. You can find it at walmart.

I've used Adams Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner with great results.
http://adamspolishes.com/shop/interi...y-cleaner.html

However, for the money Folex stain remover / carpet cleaner works just as well IMO, and can be picked up at Home Depot, Lowes, Bed Bath & Beyond, and many other stores. It's like $6 for 36oz, vs $11 or more for 16 oz of the Adams product. It's also very similar to the Adams product.

In the case of both, you apply, agitate (with a brush or your finger), and dab with a clean, dry cloth. Simple.

Both are odorless (to me) and both are kid- and pet-safe.

Hope this helps.

It's for vinyl, carpet and upholstery...Leatherette is Vinyl, so I don't see why not. I've used it on leather too (but sparingly), I would just make sure to condition the leather after applying the Tuff Stuff.

It should work fine in any part of your interior. I've been using it for years...good stuff!

How would you go about conditioning the leather after applying Tuff Stuff then?

(Complete novice when it comes to leather / vinyl car seats. Always had upholstered ones in the past).

Also, how often should I treat them do you think?

If it's leather, buy something that's labeled as a leather conditioner, like Lexol:

For Vinyl, I don't think you need to treat the surface like you would leather. But if you want, you can try something Like Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Protectant (http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotiv...ch-protectant/), good for cleaning and conditioning vinyl:

Folex – http://www.folexcompany.com

It was recommended on a car detailing subreddit, and it works as advertised. No chemical scent, no perfumes, works like magic. It even removed dry-erase crayon my daughter drew on the headliner that nothing else could even lighten up.

I dis-recommend Scotchgard Auto Upholstery Cleaner. I got some from Amazon before finding out about Folex, and if you want something that doesn't work well and makes your car smell like a freakin' baby diaper, it's perfect. Ugh.
