Thought I would share a picture of the new 'California Legacy Plate' I received today. They are made from the original tooling from the 60's and made in Folsom prison.....very cool. Goes well with my midnight black F56 too.
here is a better pic of the car with the plates I received when I originally purchased the car, brought it here from out of state and registered it.
these are the Original Black plates I had re-issued for it a very short time after. MUCH better IMHO!
I found and had reissued a pair of original black plates for my 65 Lincoln. was looking for a pic with the plates. here is the best I could find as the car is 1/2 across the world from me at the moment. (actually I am from it)
Man, that looks sharp. I wish Illinois would go back to the 1984-2000 design. Much cleaner and classier than the current one with frilly script and Lincoln's disembodied ghost head.
A co-worker here got his on the 3rd as well. He's pretty excited about it. I definitely like the look of those plates a lot. I might be biased because I prefer the color black. Either way, it definitely looks very good on your MINI. The white plate is too distracting so the black really makes it look even better.
Looking good. Hopefully, I'll be picking up my own set tomorrow for my F56 BGR MCS.
Curious to know if you got special anti theft screws. Call me paranoid, but I do not want my plates -- for which I've waited over a year now -- to get jacked!

My wife ordered a set for her black Mercedes and they arrived in just a few weeks, so they are flowing pretty quickly now. You shouldn't need to go pick them up. I listed a local AAA as my pickup location when I ordered them, but both mine and the wife's arrived in the mail. I have considered getting some button head cap screws in black that would require an allen wrench (or torx) for removal plus they would look a little better too.

Looks great, In PA the "D.A.R.E." Black plates are very popular.

The only bummer with the DARE plates is there is no option for vanity/customization.
Another popular one is/was the Flagship Niagra from the late 90's. Beyond being unique for the time (a picture on a license plate!), the numbers were basically illegible, making some motorists happy and police annoyed.
