What is the likelihood the BMS tune will be compatible with the new fJCW? Estimated HP increase?

Good question - The engine is different on the JCW - It's a B48 TOP (B48A20O0) and I believe it also has a bigger turbo.

i do not believe in that. any increase in pressure can generate the required power for the new JCW. MCS is being very underused.

Don't believe what? That the engine is different?

you're right!

the engine, nothing too substantial

"The JCW uses a development of the 2.0-litre turbocharged unit found in the Cooper S. In that application it develops 189bhp at 4700rpm and 221lb ft of torque from 1250rpm.

Reworked pistons, a new turbocharger and higher-flow exhaust boost these figures to 228bhp at 5200-6000rpm, and 236lb ft in a plateau between 1250-4800rpm. In turn, this drops the 0-62mph sprint from 6.8 to 6.3sec for the manual JCW, while top speed climbs 6mph to 152mph."

So I switched my nm power module to 100+ octane setting and tested how hard I could drive my mcs before something happened. I got maybe 4 hours of fun then a 'drivetrain malfunction'. Pulled into a parking lot and switched back to 91+ setting and cycled my engine. CEL and malfunction alert went away. Probably not wise to keep it in the high setting unless you're running the correct fuel. I was running with 93 V-Power. Figured you guys may want to know..

I expect so but we've not tested it in house yet.

I've been running the nm 100 oct tune for the past week on 91 pump. No issues so far.

Like I said, I ran it pretty hard for at least 4 hours straight. I had been running it on the high setting for a few weeks without any issue. If you aren't pushing the car I'm sure it's fine..

Goes with what I said a few days ago. Daily driver with spirited runs is fine. However, track days or "running it pretty hard for 4 hours straight" I wouldn't do.

That's why I tested that theory out. Now we all know.. And knowing is half the battle.

Bringing this back up. The only reason I would chose nm over burger is because I can save about $40. Is the burger that much better? I'm still on the fence.

Burger or NM?

Where are you seeing the NM for $40 less? Anywhere I find it, it's the same price as the stage 1. $379.

I believe you can do more with the Burger, such as adjust boost, open fuel loop, add fuel cable and run flex fuel. Mines currently at +5boost and has been for a few months. No issues at all.Makes a JCW seem like a Justa

I have some "rewards" saved with out motoring thanks to James so that plus a discount will save me ~$40 on the nm module.

I have to be honest, I wouldn't let $40 influence my decision on a major performance part for a $30,000 car. Just saying....

I'm just weighing pros and cons. In my mind and for my purpose, both products are very similar and if I can save $40 on one and get the same enjoyment out of it then I feel that I'd be crazy not to go with the cheaper one.

Just because I spend X amount on a car doesn't mean I shouldn't be conscientious of my purchases.

You usually get what you pay for. Burger is the better bang as it has more options.

Did I read somewhere that MINI changed the connectors on late 2015/2016 cars where the NM power module connects to?
