F55/F56 Album Artwork
Album Artwork
Has anyone happened to get the correct album artwork and song titles to display over the display. I have the fully loaded package with connect and navigation XL and it is so frustrating that it never works. You could be listening to a male artists song with a picture of Katy Perry showing that you played three songs back. Anyone brought this up to the dealer or had any resolution with this? It just baffles me that you pay so much for a vehicle and it isn't working as you were told.
I am using a iPhone 6. I use Beats music; however, it technically is not streaming being that I downloaded the music directly to my phone. Even putting Beats in offline mode, it still doesn't work once I skip to the next track. It also isn't consistent in playing music through items bought off of iTunes. Any advice?
Bluetooth or connected via USB cable?
I use Spotify on my iPhone 6 and the art work is fine, changes when the song does but only when connected via USB. If I'm using Bluetooth I get no artwork, only the artist, song title, and album name.
No Nav on mine... Connected+Boost package only.

Bluetooth has never gotten artwork on my screen, no matter the source. I have around 100 songs purchased from iTunes that I playback via the iPhone player and artwork again is only there when connected via USB.
As TheBigNewt pointed out above, the artwork file is indeed stored separate from the actual audio file. I don't recall Bluetooth ever sending the artwork on my previous vehicles either, only the actual audio. Maybe an Apple or MINI limitation?
Pretty much identical. I've been on Spotify for several years as a premium subscriber. I tried Beats when it came out for about a month. Both catalogs are very similar. Just personal preference really. Bluetooth has never gotten artwork on my screen, no matter the source. I use mine with the Apple supplied lighting to USB cable so the dealer theory of a special cable is out the window.
What year MC? What iOS version on your phone? I just got back from lunch and I had my phone plugged in... needed charging... Spotify artwork was perfect -- changed with the track right on queue.

I have a 2015 Mini Cooper S with the connected and navigation XL. I have the iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 6. I stopped by the dealer to try their cord and the same issue. iTunes works flawlessly; however, the spotify and beats app's do not update with the album artwork or song title. They get stuck on the same song that I initially started playing.
Its an app related issue
Which unit do you have, i have the nav unit.
I really like Beats but find the app to be pretty buggy. At home it stops playing at random. Sometimes I can't get it to switch tracks without having to restart the app.
In the car today I couldn't get it to work at all. No idea why.

The dealer emailed me just now and told me that no other apps are supported or guaranteed to work but he will get full clarification from the district rep. I'm happy the music plays. It just sucks that I can't view it on the screen :-(
Thank you.
I guess it looks like I'm going to have to purchase all my music then... I love the apps cause I can pay the $10.00 a month unlimited.
Connected+Boost No audio sound when the iPhone is in video mode, but you'll notice that 5-8 seconds into the song the artwork comes up every time. Video Link: http://youtu.be/N2mVnrdJjeE
Here is a screen shot of my software version. Does it appear I have an older version? Not sure what the most current version is; however, it appears my media and phone software versions are way behind. Should I have this updated at the dealer? Any thoughts?

I have the Wired Pack in my 2015 MCS, and I'm using Spotify for Android over Bluetooth. I don't get album artwork at all, but artist/album/song title comes through perfectly for every song.
I only get artwork for the albums I copied from USB to the built in HDD.

Your lucky. I wish I could at least get the correct track to show.
