Center Instrument Display

So I had some minor coding changes done to my F56, but I was wondering if it was possible to change the messages on the center instrument that display when you switch between driving modes. Has anyone done this yet? I didn't see it covered anywhere...

For example, sport mode: display reads "let's motor hard"

Is it possible to change this?

The messages are kind of corny.

Indeed... the "Let's MINI-malize" is growing on me, but the other 2 gotta go!

I didn't mean to be cryptic. I'm not at the car so I don't remember exactly but there is a section in settings where it allows you to turn off the cutsey sayings but you still get the mode displayed on the LED ring and speedo screen. I'll dig through later when I'm at the car unless someone else can fill in the massive blanks I left.

I believe it's Menu>Center Instrument>Event Display>Driving Modes.

I can't remember if that turns off the sayings or the color changes. Either way, I turned off all that noise. The only thing my light ring does is stay one dim, stationary, non-distracting color.

Turning off the sayings is definitely a good start. As for the color wheel, I like the red ring of fire when I switch to sport mode. #VisualHP

Me too, but I have a preset to turn it off at night. Too distracting.

I dim the light and change it to red so I feel like I'm in a submarine. I've never been in a submarine...

I'm with you, I like it, though I only have the event display turned on and at a dim setting. I had a loaner with the ring setting on displaying the driver mode, and I didn't mind it. But as others have stated a bit bright for night time so I just dim it.

And with regards to the sayings like "let's motor hard" and the others. I think they're cute -- to each their own. I expected things like that with buying into MINI, especially since it is a "lifestyle" brand.

We all (well, most of us anyway -- some recent threads have cast some doubt on that), LOVE our cars, and that's all that matters

Agreed, but MINIs are also about making them your own. Being able to customize the messages would just be an added bonus!

I got teased by my son when he saw the Lets Motor Hard blurb. It has to go for that reason.

One of the best features of the center display IMHO is the ability to push the **** to the right and quickly turn it off. What's more, unlike my last two cars (BMW and Infiniti), it is truly turned off, and not just black backlit. So you see nothing.

Is your son a teenager? If yes, then you need to turn it on and turn up the brightness and make it talk every time he gets in the car. This is similar for me with the Mission Control app.

Just checked the settings you can indeed turn off the driving mode notification on the center instrument. Bravo Mini.

A jaded 8
There is still hope
Get him a T shirt that mimics the "Let's motor........
Install it.
Don't feed him unless he willingly complies.
At 8 that will take two hours.

Make sure he doesn't communicate with any hungry attorneys.
In California, there are more attorneys than students.

Perhaps he could come up with something more intellectually stimulating.
Not being facetious here!

I wish we could take out that warning message when you first start the engine... It actually over powers the MINI logo and disappears in less than 2s!

You know that legal disclaimer one that forces you to tap OK.

And while we are at it - is there a way to prevent the climate control from activating every time the engine is turned on?

I do not get a warning message when the car is turned on, perhaps my dealer disabled that for me. However, I also would like to know how to disable the climate control activating when the car is turned on. Any ideas????

It may not turn on if you turn off the Auto Climate Control. [press the AUTO button so the light is not on.]

But, I've read lots of people say that it will not stay off.
