F56 Sport Seats

It's time to return my leased 2012 R56 S and order a 2015 F56 S. I have the sport seats in my current MINI but the new sport seats are much tighter and I find them uncomfortable (and I'm not even all that overweight). Does anyone know if there is a way to order standard seats and still get the Sport package (actually I'm going to order the fully loaded package which includes the sport package)? Those new sport seats may be a deal breaker for me and I would hate to have to give up driving a MINI because of the tight seats. Imagine a wider car and the seats are tighter than the smaller car. It makes no sense! Or am I the only one with this issue?

If you were anywhere close to San Francisco, we could trade seats!

You will easily trade those seats, they are the best upgrade of the whole gen3!

You could piece together just the options you want a la carte. We've always done this and it ends up being cheaper every time. The packages add a bunch of stuff that we don't really need/want and they really don't give you that much of a break on price.

Though if you're getting an S I don't think you have the option of standard seats.

Personally I've found these sport seats to be some of the very most comfortable and supportive seats of any car I've been in! Light-years ahead of the floppy excuses used in previous gen Mini's!

Several others have wanted the same thing: regular seats in an
MCS. I don't think you have that option on the MCS. And the "regular" seats only come in leatherette. They are pretty different than the older sport seats that I had on my 2007. I liked them but I can see why some would not, they are tighter. My Recaros are sort of in between the two. I like them but I don't think they are an option on the F56 and were expensive ($2900).

Thanks for the replies. I wish I could wave a magic wand and take the black lounge leather sport seats from my current MCS and put them in the new F56. You can't even get the full leather seats in black in the F56, only beige. If they were only going to offer them in one color, why not black? There are things about MINI quirkiness that I like and then there are things that drive me crazy.

I have black leather seats (sport) in my '14 F56. Cross black punch, or something like that.

Isn't the cross punch a combination of leather and cloth? The lounge leather is an all leather seat with cool contrasting piping. According to the configurator they're only available in beige on the F56. You can get the punch leather in black though. I just didn't want the cloth part.

So it says. The trim looks and feels like suede. Definitely leather seating surfaces. Maybe the back of the seat is leatherette based on what I'm reading on the configurator, but I hadn't noticed in about four months of ownership.

Front tops are leather, side are alcantara and the side and back look to be leatherette. Its common to do this in MINI as the R56 seats are like that.

Think the seats look nice and feel nice in sport version, On tip, use the lumber support ( wheel on the side ) adjuster and from R56 seats to F56 seats, tilt the seat back back a little more and make the seating position more comfortable.

I have the Cross Punch Leather seats in my F56S and I love them! After a bit of fooling around with all the adjustments I found my sweet spot. I don't think anyone would regret the investment. Cloth or leather the seat itself is very comfortable and supportive especially in the twisties!

Hey Rajapruk, will that be available for the standard seats, or only the sport seats? (I'm looking for alternatives to leatherette for the standard seats)

Do you have a source for this information?

Thanks.
It seems odd to me that given the wealth of other configurations, the sport seats are the only ones with any options.

Love the union jacks on the headrest and that the sport seats will be available in all leather. Problem is my lease will probably run out before that happens, but thanks for the info! I'll check with my MA.

Yes the sport seats are a bit tight when new, but after a month or two, they get broken in. I have no complaints now.

There is no lumbar adjustment in the '15 sport seats.

Pretty sure that only applies to the leatherette spec'd cars.

Son of a gun. They charge the same amount for the sport seats in any grade of upholstery, I believe. That kinda sucks! Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah I didn't realize mine didn't have it till I went to reach for it on my first long trip in the car.
