I paid about $6000 more for the factory JCW. It includes the body kit, the bigger turbo (and supposedly slightly different pistons, and clutch if you get one), and Brembo brakes (which are great, and I didn't really care), steering wheel/boot, anthracite headliner, and 17" wheels. I think that's the package. I'm guessing a year from now. I bet the body kit will be available. I think it looks good. Same colors as my car but I have no roof stripes.

What did the tune specifically do/add? Results sounds very similar to the BMS plug-in tune which at least can be removed if you don't want your dealer to see the tune should they download the car's ECU while in for service/maintenance.

So the BMS does not leave any electronic "residue", so to speak, I.e. No codes are thrown?

I don't have one myself but from everything people are saying when removed it's gone. Have not heard of anyone reporting codes either. I'm considering it myself as the price is right (< $400) and can be added/removed in a couple of minutes.

It's not a tune per se. It's a little circuit that clips outside the engine between two existing wires. You can remove it easily. I don't need one but quite a few people have used it and like it. They tout all sorts of horsepower figures that who knows how they got, but they all say the car is faster which is all you care about. My car is plenty fast enough but people have even used it on JCW cars.

Here is the actual thread on the BMS mod/tune (start reading at post #10)

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ckling-in.html

In simple terms it's adding a couple pounds/PSI in boost to the car bypassing the factory set boost limit. The link above explains it in much better detail and you'll find lots of chatter about MINI/dealers and the BMS creator telling you when it's removed there is no trace since it's plug-in dependent.

I was tempted to wait on a fJCW but due to the uncertainty, i ordered a standard S today.

Will probably add the JCW tuning kit later.

Good move! You may be surprised with the performance of the F56. If I wanted more acceleration I'd sure try the Burger part for $400 before I'd pay for a JCW tune for $4500 or whatever it costs. That's outrageous IMO.

I paid the gigantic money for the 2004 kit with the head, supercharger and exhaust - 4500 euros over here at the time.

I suppose I'm wary of interfering with warranty, and my choices are more limited over here as the modding scene isn't as highly developed as in the US or the UK so if I want more speed and pops and burbles, I might have to go to the dealer.....

I know. That's about what I paid extra for the factory JCW body kit, brakes, and turbo (about $6.5k usd).

You keep saying "kit", but you mean, "model" right?

In 2012, MINI separated the John Cooper Works versions into their own model line, vs an option.

Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works.

The differences between the Cooper Works Kit and the John Cooper Works model are significant, getting the larger brakes, larger turbo, thicker roll bars and suspension components and different interior trim.
