Wheel options for winter tires

I was wondering about purchasing a set of used wheels from another mini model that might fit on my F56 for winter tires. There is a set of wheels from a 2014 Countryman on Craigs that has the same 5 bolt pattern but I don't know if it will fit on my car? I called the Mini dealer in my area and asked about it. They told me that the offset is a little different from the F56 and that it would rub. I don't know if they were telling me the truth as the parts guy went on to tell me that in September Mini was going to offer a winter tire and wheel combo for $1800. That seems a little steep. Can anybody conform that the Countryman 5 bolt wheels are different than the F56?

Unless things have changed Countryman wheels have a 5x120 bolt pattern, so they won't fit on the F56.

Do you go with the runflats or regular?

Actually, if you can get them, the Nokian Hakka R or R2 variants are probably the best option. They grip consistently with the Blizzak's, but do so all the way down the depth of the tread, vs the Blizzak's that have a different rubber compound as you get do about 1/2 way worn. If you happen to be in the new hampshire area, Carson City tire in Amherst has excellent prices on Nokian tires - even better than the Blizzak prices.

Yes, these tires are also top of the line. I have not had them, but would have no problem in purchasing a set. I did NOT buy run flats. I also am changing from run flats once the tires wear out. They are way toooooooo HEAVY!!

I want the Nokians as well but they don't make anything that fits a 17" wheel.

I believe you've been misled as I just checked one particular model (Hakkapeliita 8) and found four different sizes listed for a 17" wheel.

I suspect checking other models will yield even more sizes. The website I checked is: www.tiresbyweb.com

I know that this thread is asking about wheel options... But I am terribly partial to the General Altimax Arctic(Studdable Winter / Snow) tires. They are rather inexpensive and I have used them on my Acura TL for a few years. It is probably a good idea to go to Tirerack and compare the tires that we have all mentioned and compare the tires to each other. In the NOrtheast we have to deal with everything from fluffy - wet snow and ice.

As for wheels, find a nice set of OEM wheels on this site and mount the snows to them.
