F56 - Wheel Spacers - Help Please!

Hi all,

I'm looking to try and source some spacers for the F56. Which is proving difficult :(

The spacers are probably going to be needed to allow my 18x8 ET45 wheels to clear the struts of my incoming KW coilovers. The current clearance of the OEM struts looks like this:

I am unsure what size to go for, either 5mm or maybe 10mm. I am leaning to 10mm so that they can be hubcentric with a mounting collar for the wheels.

The requirement is: 5x112 with a 66.5mm centre bore / mounting collar.

Searching online, I have found one set of 10mm hubcentrics that fit the bill and thats it!! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2812988238...84.m1423.l2649)

I have asked Kavs motorsports who can custom make a set, but in order to do this, they need to know the length of the collar / nose on the OEM hub - can anyone measure this for me with an accurate device?

Thanks, and if anyone has any idea of other spacers that exist - please post links

Ive always heard if the collar/nose on the hub is long enough you can run 5mm non hubcentrics and still be hubcentric. I havent found any 66.5s here in the US but there may be a way you could buy a different size and use some rings.

Like maybe you could buy spacers that are sized for the bore of your aftermarket wheels and just run your hubcentric rings between the hub and the spacers

Why not wait until u have everything installed then determine the spacer needed.
I have approx 1/4" between the wheel and BC coilover; small but it never touches.
The ET u spec'd is a lot less than my factory 113 with 52ET so I suspect you may not need a spacer or a 3mm which will be hub centric as to allow the wheel to utilize the hub.

1/8" is probably all you need. Look for 2008~up Audi spacers. They use 14mm bolt (dif thread pitch) so the hole opening will be in correct diameter. The center bore also matches our car. You do not need spacer with hub flange as one this thin will still allow the wheel to sit on the car's hub.

I took a wheel off today and took these measurements (I don't have any caliper a for measuring, only a tape measure!!)

The collar on the hub measures 11mm (from what I can see).

Inside the wheel:

With the above pictures in mind, would a 5mm spacer (with no mounting collar) thus reducing the hubs collar to 6mm be safe to run (with longer bolts of course)??

You need to measure the inside taper on the plastic hub ring as well. That plus the spacer thickness need to be or less than hub flange length minus 3mm.

So say hub flange is 11mm and the hub ring taper is 4mm; then the max spacer would be: 11-3-4= 4mm.

This ensure your wheel to have at least 3mm of contact to the hub flange and avoid any vibration.

This applicable to collar-less spacer.

You can see that from the photo can't you?

I presume by taper you mean the chamfered edge? If so, that is 5mm, as you can see from the picture, so do you mean:

11mm - 5mm - 3mm = 3mm

Meaning that the max spacer without a collar would be 3mm?

yes, chamfer. It looks about 5mm like you said. If that is the case then 3mm is pretty much max otherwise the rims won't sit on the flange/collar.

So under the same principal, you can get another set of hub rings with less chamfer so you have more contact surface and get thicker spacers.

Yeh i was thinking that - maybe get some metal hub rings with zero chamfer and then get the 5mm spacers on without issue?!

Are my thoughts correct?

What length are the stock lug bolts?

Also I saw some 66.6 CB 3 and 5mm spacers on ebay for 23 bucks a set. Not usually a fan cheap ebay parts but I don't see how you can really mess these up

Stock bolt is 27mm (thread length, not including the seat and head).

Yeah spacers are spacers as long as they are CNC machined. Just don't get the cheap casted one! Those are made from beer can recycled garbage! Had them on my Audi before and they split in half after I torque the bolts
