Entertainment Details Not Updating?
Hey Folks--
Caught this on my test drive and was hoping it wouldn't show up on my car but did. Curious if anyone else is having this issue:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Pair/Phone car via settings on vehicle and phone
2. Select multimedia, external devices, Mike's iPhone 5 (device name)
3. On device, open Spotify and begin 'shuffle play' of offline playlist.
4. Notice on screen album art and album meta data.
5. Skip to next song from phone.
Expected: Album art and song change.
Result: Song changes but displayed art/meta data remain the same.
6. Skip to next song from vehicle controls
Expected: Album art and song change.
Result: Song changes but displayed art/meta data remain the same.
The only way to update album art is to change to a different audio source (ie, USB or radio)/or service on the phone (itunes/Pandora) and return.
Ideas?

I have heard of another person here complaining about this, and it was specific to Spotify for him.
Have you tried other streaming apps (Pandora, Apple music, etc?) and seen the same? It may be a problem with the Spotify app sending metadata and not the MINI system specifically.

I have a nexus 5 Android phone and whole playing spotify I don't get album art at all. Just a Bluetooth icon. My wife's iPhone gets art that doesn't always update.
If it makes you feel better, our 2014 Ford fusion has the same problem. I blame Bluetooth as its a lot of information to send quickly.

Interestingly, I did not have this problem with Spotify on the Pioneer radio on the car I traded in last month.
I probably depends on how Spotify associates album art with their songs and how your BT phone handles that data. Like iTunes stores art and mucic separately and brings the art to the music when it's played from the art folder, which are stored separately on the iPod I think. Spotify is a streamer so it's probably different.
I did a little experimentation today with my iPhone and figured I'd share my results for anyone interested. All of this was hard wired and not Bluetooth.
I'm reporting consistency of metadata and album art updating here.
Spotify - bad
Downcast - good
Pandora - good (officially supported)
ICatcher - bad
Amazon Music - good (officially supported)
TuneIn - good (officially supported)
iTunes Radio - erratic
Beats Music - bad
Rdio - good
It's something in the app programming rather than streaming vs. not.

Our Mini is exhibiting the same problem. iPhone 5s, Pandora, connected by bluetooth. The first song's art and information displays and remains for all other tracks that play on Pandora. If you switch sources and go back to the phone and Pandora, it shows the correct art for the first song, and then is stuck again. Anyone else stuck with this?
Yes, same issue using Spotify. I'm hardwired and can only switch the song via iPhone or through the directional touchpad thingy. Steering wheel control doesnt work. Album art is the original song when phone is first attached.
