Twitchy Radar Detector - Fuse Suggestions?

I have my old radar detector hard wired into my F56, with a handy mute switch. I'm tapped into a switchable fuse that keeps power when the car is in auto stop mode, but there seems to be a voltage dip or spike that makes the detector beep every time the car starts back up.

Any suggestions for a steady voltage fuse in auto stop? If I recall correctly I'm on a radio fuse now.

Thanks.

Did you try tapping a different fuse ? Cig lighter ? You should have constant current with s/stop

I see they sell 12v filters, like Scosche ES004.

Tried a couple. The cigarette lighter adapter was doing the same.

Same problem with GPS running off the console 12V socket, auto stop causes a glitch indicating the GPS has lost power, but it happens quick enough the LED on the power adapter doesn't blink. I'm looking to tap directly off the fuse box when I have time.

I've ordered the Scosche filter above from Amazon and will have it on Tuesday. I will post a follow up once I install it.

Fuses

Here is a pic of my fuse box. I hard wired an Escort Passport 8500CI and also a Blackvue Dash Cam. No problems but my car is a 2013 S Coupe. Radar comes on as soon as car is started no worries.

Fuse

I should be on the top Yellow one in the photo.

I have probably too much going on inside. Running Ham Radio, Radar, Dash Cams, and I have a box above the gas peddle to tell Dash Cams when to cut off (timers and by battery voltage drop).

And with all that hooked up I have not had any issues.

I tapped into the fuses by pulling fuse out and wrapping wire around one end and re-inserting the fuse. Nothing fancy.

I used the auto dimming mirror fuse as all the others are higher amp or always on. I have a write up I'm finishing on hardwiring in the F56 I'll be posting shortly.

A helpful picture, but isn't the issue here that the F56's have the auto-shutoff engine when the car stops at lights and such? Which drops power across the board and seems to be causing issues... 2013 Coupe isn't going to have those same issues.

Battery

Sounds like you might have to wire direct to the battery. I know some of my fuses turn off and some stay on all the time - but yours is a different issue completely.

I might end up running a spare Gel Cell inside just to power my extras. That might work as well.

You need a brown out booster. I'm running a hardwired Valentine 1 and to eliminate this problem you need this. You can make this work with any detector. The plugs on the valentine brown out booster are just telephone wire.

Thanks Mueller. I'll check it out. So the wire pattern should be the same for a Beltronics as a Valentine?

Thanks. Is Valentine still requiring a Valentine serial number when buying accessories? I ran across something about this when reading about the brown out booster.

Yes, there is no fancy technology on the cable side, is just a telephone cable as stated above.

As feared, Valentine won't sell me the part without owning a Valentine detector. Are there any equivalents to their Brown Out Buster on the market?

What did you do? I made it all the way to where it wanted my credit card.

$25, free shipping.

I placed the order this morning on the web. And this afternoon Customer NoService sends me an email asking for my serial number. Without it they wouldn't sell me the part.

Note the hardwiring thread posted in the past day or so. I'm heading to the garage to find fuse 52. Although I don't have the auto dimming mirror so we'll see.

That's friggin crazy! There's even a place where you can click "it's a gift".

If I buy it as a gift, I sure of heck ain't going to have a serial number.
