Rear fog lights

Hi all new F56 owners,

First post in a few years since my first MINI! (see my signature!)

I am currently a 2011 Cooper S Countryman owner, which is my 2nd MINI. My 2 kids love the space the Countryman offer but I am always thinking about the fun I had with my old 2009 MCS hardtop. Just for reference my 2 MINIs are attached.

Now I am thinking hard about trading the Countryman in for the 2015 F56 (still debating between a Justa or MCS). If I can get a good trade-in price ($20K) and carefully configure the new F56 for under $25K, I might be able to "sell" the 2015 F56 to the wife and kids, by only putting in $5K plus tax for the new F56.

I have a quick question about the rear fog lights though. For the first MINI R56 I owned, I ordered the rear fog lights because I love the look of the 2 red light housings in the rear bumpers. To be honest, I didn't really use the rear fog at all. I am just curious to know if the F56 still come standard with the 2 red light housings in the rear bumper (or 1 red light housing in case of the Justa Cooper) even if the rear fogs are not ordered? Are the lights there but just not eye-piercing bright or in another word if I don't order the rear fogs, will I get an empty bumper with no red light housing?

Can any new F56 owners on here shed a light on this for me? Thanks and hope I can join you guys as one of the new F56 owner soon!

The red housing is there if you have the fog lights or not.

The base price on a 2015 MCS is $24,100 + $850 destination and handling

Have to be a pretty bare bone S or a lightly option Justa for this plan to work!

Justa here, yes I've got the single red light housing in the rear even though I don't have functioning fog lights.

Good info! Thanks. I know for the new F56 Cooper S, the front fog lights come standard and if you get the LED headlight, your front fog lights will also be LED.

Not sure about the Justa though.

Is the justa comes with standard front fog lights as well? and if I order LED headlight for the Justa, will my front fog lights come with LED? The US configuration for the Justa sure make it look like front fog lights are not standard for the Justa and even though you order front LED headlights, you still have to order front fog or LED front fog separately for $250....very confusing.

Can anybody shed some facts on this front fog issue for the Justa???

I have LED lights, but did not buy up to fogs, and have non-functioning front fogs on my Justa. So you're correct there! You'd pay extra for the functionality but don't need worry about the appearance.

Basically, the only difference in paying for either front or rear fogs is that they are functional and you get the two working backlit buttons next to the lights instead of non-working blank buttons.
