Can dealer add the HK speakers?

HK was not available when mine was in production. The base speakers are not very good IMO. Does anyone know what the HK upgrade entails? Is it speakers only? Or does it also include additional amplifier(s)? Can this be added by the dealer? Thanks for comments.

additional and different speakers, different amp. While I won't say a dealer couldn't do it, I think it would be VERY cost prohibitive. Some of the interior components of the car would need to be swapped out to accommodate the speakers.

Also, dual subs under the front seats.

I replaced my stock R56 speakers myself. Made a world of difference -- did that myself; fairly easy project if you are comfortable removing body panels.

Then about a year later, added an amp -- another step up sound wise. I always thought amp was only if you wanted music louder, but it also helps with better sound quality particularly if you add better speakers. Bought the amp myself and paid a shop to install it as I wasn't up for running power and wire to the speakers.

So, if you just have the speakers replaced, you'll likely dramatically improve the sound doing that alone.

I'm replacing my GP2 crap speakers with JBL 6.5 608gti with separate highs and cross over $250. Install should be pretty simple.
I will leave the stock 3.5" mids alone. In a couple months I will add a 8" CDT sub and amp. This set up will crush any HK system for a fraction of the cost

Newministuff, based in the UK, has some fantastic stereo upgrades for the R56, all plug & play, but it is a tad early for them to have F56 items yet. I did one of theirs and love it. Might want to keep an eye on their site or send them a PM.

I was totally misled by my dealer as to what standard speakers were. I was told the standard speakers still included separate tweeters , subs, and a center channel. I'm pretty sure I don't have any of those. I have the nice stereo with nav, but there's no dynamic range at all. Sounds like a typical crappy oem radio. I'm afraid aftermarket upgrades will void the warranty.

Is only speakers and the only way the dealer would know is if they took the door panels off, and I'm sure they don't care. I have tons of Mods on my 13' GP2 and they nothing, when I get warranty work done.
Gets some speakers and you will love. $250 and you will be set. Night a day difference

I am a bit surprised that even with H-K, there are no equalizer pre-sets (artificial surround-sound ambiances). My Hyundai has several on its 350W Dimension Audio system (i.e. LG, I think). They work! I don't have my MINI H-K yet, but from those I've played with, I only saw basic balance and fader settings. Did I miss something?

Can anyone confirm what size speaker fits the new Mini? I have a set of crazy expensive Focal speakers that I would have installed if they'd fit. It looked to me like the oem driver was too small. I believe the Focals are 5 1/4" . Tweets are approx 2". Wonder if my Focals will fit....

Just have a stereo shop pop the door off, it should only take 5 minutes.
