What Is Your Actual Gas Mileage So Far?
I know there aren't a huge number of these on the road yet, but I'm curious as to what you're seeing for actual mileage in the different driving modes. I'm told that Mini's tend to exceed the EPA ratings, but I haven't seen anything on this forum yet discussing the mileage results.
I know the car is all about the fun factor and I'm very interested as a potential first time Mini owner. It would be great to get a feel for how they perform on the practical side as well from an MPG perspective. Thanks in advance for your replies.

OP,
I have driven mine some now and gotten some miles put on it.
At 70-75 MPH with cruise on it has gotten 35-37 MPG.
That is with the Auto Climate Control on with the A/C running.
I think it will stay in that neighborhood IMO.

What driving mode have you two been driving in? Mostly sport, mid, green, mix?
Pretty sure those have a big impact on the mileage. I like that Green shows you how many extra miles you 'gained' by being in that mode =)

Little over 200 miles and still on the first tank of gas. Will report back after the second fill-up. So far if I just look at the real-time mpg number, they are mostly in the high 20's and low 30's for City driving.

You are correct. Mine has almost 600 miles on it. At least 70% city driving, mixed modes (green on the highway, mix of sport and mid in the city). As of now, my average is 40.4.
There is a nice long section (1/4 mile) of construction cones on an unopened portion of road setup that I have been using sport mode on... like an autocross course setup just for me
First tank in my S....auto stop start on, mixed modes, mostly highway computer says 35 mpg.
I'm working on my second tank working out of town...doing this tank all green mode with auto stop/start on. It'll be mixed city/highway. I'm interested to see what max is.
But typically I'll drive in mid or sport mode. Green on long highway trips.

I hear ya! I cannot drive this car in Green mode. Just takes so much fun out of the drive. I can, though, use Mid for most of my driving and I switch to Sport when I want more. And there IS a difference you can feel. I've yet to use Green mode at all. I likely would use it only when cruising on the freeway.
you guys should all get a fuelly and add me! there aren't many better ways of tracking mpg

That's how I will drive for the most part....I slip it into green mode on the long highway trips but wanted to see what the max I could get if I stayed in green mode...it's just too boring! LOL
Ok so I finally finished the second tank, all (mostly) in green mode. The computer says 40.3mpg, my own math says 38.3mpg. Either way I think that's good.
But I don't see me using green mode like that, I'll use it on long drives I guess.
It drives like the turbo isn't there, it won't get out of its own way.
Now it's time to motor!
EDIT details for this tank:
some city driving but mostly steady speeds at 45-65(max) MPH. I live in the country so even when I say city, I'm not talking about NY or LA style stop and go traffic just a few lights.
Cooper S, Manual transmission, Hankook summer runflat tires.
mostly all green mode (as painful as that was) never more than 3000 rpm during acceleration

What does that mean? I'm driving an S, my next tank will be no green mode normal driving. It won't get 40 but my last tank did.
Mostly green mode, using the auto stop start feature. Manual transmission.

Largely because people who buy an S do not drive in green mode. Why the hell did you by an S to drive it in green mode???!!!
This thread is for the new 3rd Gen F56, there's no JCW of it yet. I think there are other threads for mileage on the older generations (Looks like you have a 2006?), here we're trying to gauge the efficiency of the new engines.
One thing to note is if you're using US or UK/CA units. I once set my R56 to English-UK and was confused for a bit that the MPG figures went up. 1 US gallon is 0.8 Imperial gallons. So 25 MPG in the US is 31.25 MPG in the UK.
