I've been driving strictly in sport mode for my commutes for the last dozen or tanks, I'm averaging right at 36mpg each tank despite my constant flogging. Each long trip I take I hit the mid-40's. I couldn't be more pleased with that.

Justa, manual.

I think I have everyone beat. 130 miles ago, I took my car in to the dealer for reprogramming. Filled up as I left the dealer.

As of this evening, the car says, 130 miles later, it still has a full tank of gas. :D

Oh, I'm pretty sure it's not full, but maybe the car thinks it's full. lol.

While I respect the MPG that MINI produces, I really bought it for the driving performance and semi-retro appearance. If I was obsessed with MPG, I would have purchased a refrigerator w/wheels (Prius or the like). So I finally remembered to measure MPG performance on a couple of trips in the last month or so...

1/26- Issaquah, WA to Kennewick, WA 194.1 miles in duration over varied terrain including a mountain pass and some fairly level sage brush country.
Temps were in the mid forties, fairly heavy rain for 70 miles, MID setting.
MPG from dashboard computer was 39.6, and the average speed for the distance was 64.9.

2/17- Repeated the trip in the dry and used the GREEN setting. Distance was 187, MPG was 39.2 and the average speed was 66.7.

2/18- Return trip was on a slightly different route with two mountain passes and dry roads on the MID setting. Distance was 190 miles, MPG was 37.1, and average speed was 70.7.

I believe that my car would easily achieve 40+ on the highway when they stop producing winter blend gas blend. A similar trip from Ephrata, WA to my home on Camano Island, WA in Oct produced 42.9 MPG. Unfortunately I did not keep track of the average speed as there was a couple of errand stops along the way.

Nice mileage! I think what hurts mileage the most is the cold engine short trips and stop and go city traffic. I'm getting around 33mpg with mixed driving, average speed around 25 mph.

Green mode could save you gas if you know when to use it especially coasting long down hills where your speed remains steady. Or it could waste more gas and wear brake pads more on steep hills.
It also slows down the acceleration rate but thats not really important in highway driving so I can imagine it won't do much on highways.

I bought mine for both gas mileage and performance and the size too.
One reason why I was interested in Chevy Spark EV.

So jealous...
So far I'm at 613 miles and I'm only averaging 17.3 mpg.
My commute is only 1.4 miles each way and the avarage temp has had to have been around 15 or so outside. So there's some more warming up than would typically be involved. Not for the cars sake but mine.
Its a justa, mid mode mostly, manual tranny.
I use 92 octane.. But I agree with the winter mix gas. Its never good.
I have 4 to 5 ... 1.4 mile trips a day.. with a few normal drives on an actual highway here and there . I've had the car since 1/6 and just filled the tank for the 4th time today.
I am hoping the spring brings better results.

That's hard to believe for a Justa. Others getting high 30's and you get 17? Even I get 24-25 MPG in town jumping all over it when I can. Is that what your computer says?

The car says I'm averaging 25.6 in my MCS. I mostly drive in town and with spirit. I don't really care what the mileage is.

flyers47... The climate conditions in your area are killing your MPG. In 40 degree temps it takes my car about 3 miles to start producing cabin heat if I drive away directly w/out any warm up time. Unless you let it idle for a long time to heat the interior (achieving '0' MPG!) your short drive will keep the fuel management system in an 'enriched' mode and your mileage will suffer a lot. Either way you will not see much improvement until you get a break in the weather... that may be July with the tough luck you have experienced this winter! If you do not get at least 25 MPG or more after the thaw, you probably should consult with your service advisor.

Thank you for the replies.... The computer says 17.9.
Just for reference, Its 10 degrees now. I started the car at 1:34 ish and drove 1.6 miles. It is now 1:51 and the engine temp is still showing low. (3 blue bars and one white.) but the seats are toasty.
Do you tthink it's worth a call to the dealer just to get on record with them ?
I thought it was kinda low

If you've verified that figure with the odometer I'd notify them. I can see a Justa maybe getting worse mileage on short cold runs, but 17 MPG? That sounds way low to me.

To me your MPG seems high considering the conditions. Wait for warmer weather and especially a MUCH longer drive time to really get a handle on MPG. I suggest you walk the 1.6 miles rather than driving.
