Locking People Inside the F56

So I was browsing the owners manual and found this regarding locking the car:

Locking from the outside
Do not lock the vehicle from the outside if
there are people in it, as the vehicle cannot be
unlocked from inside without special knowl‐
edge.◀

LOL - I couldn't find where "special knowledge" was defined.

I think you will find that the vast majority of Mini passengers are carrying two specialist unlocking tools, on their feet, but may not know how to use them. I think the lie-on-yer-back-and-kick technique will work fine, but there may be a cost involved......

Guess you guys didn't read that the manual was written by "Monty Python Flying Circus". For anyone familiar with that old show!

Honestly I think this has to do with the alarm if you have it.

New Mini add

When I kidnap someone I like to stop off for coffee. Now that I own the new Mini Hardtop I can lock my victim in the car while I go into the store.
So if you don't want to drag your screaming abductee into the store with you, drop by you local Mini dealer and try out the new Mini Hardtop.

this is a feature for those who use online internet dating.

Seriously, this is quite humorous and I would like to know out of perverse curiosity what that "special knowledge" is to open the doors from the inside when locked,...

IIRC, the same warning is in my 2012 O/M

I recall this being in the R56 manual as well, it didn't seem to be an issue though then and I have a feeling it isn't now. In my R56 a passenger would just pull the handle twice and they could get out. But who knows; maybe Mini wanted us to be able to hold folks hostage for real this time. hehe

I am sure the 'special knowledge' is the double pull on the door handle, unless they are implying you should not lock a car with people inside

I locked my wife in it, she pulled the handle and got right out.

Also I read and keep hearing the double pull, but mine doesn't work that way, single pull unlocks and opens the door simultaneously
