Picked up my F56 today
I picked up my F56 in volcanic orange today. Drove it 200 miles already (all just the trip home)...My first impressions are good....answers to a couple of things that have been brought up and a question for anyone out there:
to use mini connected you do not need any special cords, in my case an iphone 4s, all you need is the apple factory cable and it works.
the arm rest....it makes the long ride comfortable, it doesn't get in the way for shifting BUT does get in the way for using the e brake and unless you put the rest all the way down it makes the connect controls slightly awkward
I did not get HK system due to the added time I was going to have to wait (although i've seen guys order it and received it before me so....anyway). in a word the stock radio is BASIC, very lacking. I'm not a big radio upgrade guy and I notice that it is simply flat sounding with little volume. if you have the option to get HK GET IT. (although I have not heard it myself, it can't be anything but better)
I think that the mini connect/nav and stuff is pretty easy to navigate, there's a lot in there so it'll take a bit to remember it all however i found it all very easy to use. no complaints there at all.
Other than the radio system don't have any real problems just yet.
question for anyone out there though.....
it doesn't come with a spare tire but I thought that it was supposed to have some fix a flat stuff. mine only came with 2 tools, a tow hook and a screw driver. not a jack or anything, just a hole where one is supposed to be.
so the question is: what comes standard in the F56 S as far as the tool kit?
I'll add a pump and repair kit, be nice to have a jack of some kind too.
I've only taken one pic thus far, at the dealer when I picked it up. its on my phone so I can't post it right now. it looks like every other volcanic orange F56 with the stock leatherette interior.

Adding a repair kit might be a waste as it's my understanding that the run-flat tires cannot be repaired in that way - that costly replacement is the only option (pricier than standard tires). But you should be able to drive a good distance to the repair facility with a flat and that's the apparent strength of such a setup. Not carrying a spare also saves weight
I'm not particularly impressed - give me non BMW inspired rubber anyway.
Enjoy your new car by the way!

You have what I got. I was hoping to get the super small jack like on my Coupe and lug wrench. I had a small plug kit, pliers, slime, and a super small air compressor I kept in my Coupe. I like the idea of a quick repair for a nail and minimizing my downtime until I can get to a proper shop.

So I just took it out for the night ride....
the mood lights inside are pretty cool, I went with the color that matches the dash lights (redish).
The standard (non-led) headlights work very good, so I don't feel so bad having opted out on the LED's. While I'm sure they are awesome, these are excellent as is (and much cheaper to replace if a bulb burns out)

Glad to hear since I thought that 750 bux for LEDs seemed excessive and passed on them. Hadn't had a problem driving at night before. Almost a week since I got mine and no night driving so far.

Compared to my wife's halogen headlights with projector beam lenses on her '12 Hyundai Azera, my LED lights are so much better. I'm glad I went with them. But if you are happy with the regular headlights that is great. Just shows that even the regular lights are exceptional. Gotta love the F56 improvements!

I have no doubt that the LED's are better, I put a set of aftermarket LED's on my harley and it was a world of difference. I was worried that the standard lights would fall as short as the standard stereo did, but it did not. So far that's the only serious negative I have. Hoping to get out of the house this after noon for some more motoring.
Congrats! If you are feeling like my family is with the purchase you are not regretting it even for a moment. My wife was almost in tears letting the old mini go but she has definitely moved on. We liked the old one but man it seemed like we had to take it in every few months for something or another right at the 3 year mark. The improvements can be felt and seen on this newer model immediately.
