Son of '76 which makes me a cool 38! In my 3rd MINI and the misses in her 2nd. We love everything about The brand...over here in SA its definitely a younger crowd having fun but i do spot an "older" pilot behind the wheel every now and again.

I belonged to the Houston MINI Motoring Society (HMMS) when I lived in Texas, and now belong to the Arkansas MINI Owners Klub (AMOK). I attend the meetings of the latter club in both Hot Springs and Little Rock. In all 3 cities, I find the same trend--those who don't have kids and those whose kids have grown up. Long term, the Countryman and Paceman (and the future 4 door) might change those demographics, but for now, there are plenty of us post-middle-agers around.

agreed, kids definitely play a part as well as I'm not convinced a stroller will fit the boot of our MINIs

I think in the U.S. the decision is made by the car seat requirement. It's not easy to crawl back there to get the kids situated, and I know a number of people who sold their car when they were expecting their first child. The new 4-door ought to be popular for that reason alone, as are the Paceman and Countryman.
I am 28.
I bought a used R53 when I was 20 and had it for a couple of years. I then re-evaluated my life and career choices and decided to go to college and pursue a math degree. Graduated in December 2013, and ordered my f56in April I am finally back in my dream car
I'm 31. When I'm 50 or 60+ I want to be like you guys who are above this ages. I don't want to be some grumpy adult who thinks he needs a large wagon or sedan to be taken seriously!

The good news is that age creeps up on you gradually. The bad news is that age creeps up on you gradually.
I am 67, would really like to see a distribution graph by age as I find the dispersion interesting. FWIW my first car was a used 1957 Morris Minor and the Mini is about as close as I can get for my last car!
The Morris top speed was about 65, the Mini could likely hit 165 if not limited. The Morris averaged close to 30 mpg, I am expecting a little better with the Mini. I the Mini will handle, the Morris not so much. I can only hope I will love the Mini as much as I did the Moriis...

This reminds me of an experience my wife and I had back in '82. We were shopping for a new car and had just got back from test driving a Volvo. I was pretty much impressed and asked my wife what she thought. Her response was: "Let's wait till we're old before we buy a Volvo". We bought a new Toyota Celica GT instead. We still haven't bought a Volvo and I doubt we ever will.
