R56 vs F56 headroom

So I'm new to mini and I'm close to ordering an F56. My concern is headroom. When I sit in the R56 with a sunroof my head is quite close to the top. I know the dimensions for the F56 are a little larger but does anyone know if there is more headroom? I know you get more headroom if you skip the sunroof, but I really want one. I might just have to wait until I can sit in one in person before deciding whether to order one or not. At this point its just a curiosity.

Thanks,

Todd

I don't remember having a problem with the roof at the front, the back was definitely shorter. The shilhouette outline I found (below) shows there's an extra 12mm (1/2") in the front. (And 17mm less at the back.)

I have an R56 with a sunroof. I love it, except for one thing. With the roof open it is very noisy regarding wind noise. More so than other vehicles that I have owned with sunroofs. So much so that I find it quite annoying and seldom open it. Before I would order one, I would take a test drive and see how it works in the environment that you would use it and then decide.

I will say that even closed, I love the view up through the glass.

Thats very odd. I have very little wind noise in mine. I wonder if its perception or is something a little off in yours? Do you have the wind screen? I have heard of people that have removed theirs. (No idea why)

Question. Is the wind screen the mesh type? And does it tend to catch bugs? That is why I rarely opened the panoramic sunroof in my old '11 Buick LaCrosse. If it caught bugs it was darn near impossible to clean them out of the tight mesh.

Yes the mesh type. And yes it eats bugs. It's not too hard to clean if its fresh-ish. But if its dried on there its a challenge. But I'd still rather deal with bug guts than wind noise. I hate wind noise. Drives me crazy.

a big reason i sold my 08 for a '13 was because of the sunroof. hated that thing. killed at least a solid inch of headroom too. without it, there is sooo much more room. i'm 5'11, seat cranked all the way down, but i wear a helmet a lot for autox. the sunroof was such a killer before too. and heavy, very heavy
