Head-Up Display Reviews

As anyone seen any good reviews that discuss the HUD? I am trying to decide if it's worth the upgrade or not as I really liked it in the Camaro. The guys over at Top Gear didn't seem to fond of it because it's too low and out of your line of sight. Thoughts?

I didn't include it with my order because I read it's not readable with polarized glasses. That's what I wear 90% of the time behind the wheel.

I passed on it for two reasons.

The position of it.
And I have some real doubt as to how easy it will be to read it.

I had also seen a mention in a review that depending on your line of sight, it might not be visible.

Like someone else said regarding the polarized lens issue. I wear them all the time as well.

I am curious what happened to HUDs that display on the windshield. Even my ancient 2004 Z06 has this and I think it's great. visible at all times, and you don't have to take your eyes off the road at all, just quickly adjust your focus. Nor do you have to worry about how tall or short you are in the saddle.

I don't know what happened to the HUD projected on the windshield. This HUD also required the "Wired" package with the NAV. I get the impression that the main reason to get it is to be able to see the turn by turn directions in the display. Otherewise all you see is the speed and temperature. Who cares about that?

Awesome things for me to think about, guys. I'm pretty disappointed in the HUD implementation. It's one of the new features I was really excited about, but I think I'll find something else to spend that $500 on.

My M-I-L's Buick had it. Had to look down to see it only 3 or 4 inches above the speedo anyway so what was the point?

HUD with windshield projection has been available on BMW for several years already. Why didn't they use that system? And BMW upgraded it for 2014. MINI will be several generations behind.

I didn't order this for the same reasons, Terry. If it was a heads-up option similar to what is available on the C6 Corvette I probably would have done it. But a pop-up clear panel? No thanks!

Probably did it this way so that the unit could fit in any model in the range? Cost way less this way. It's like throwing a bone....Minis are fun cars most will not want a backup camera and HUD....so they are not wasting too much money/effort on it.

+1. Most fun-per-dollar upgrade available for a Mini, IMO..

Z06 FnB. Hard to say at this point about the rear sway bar.
I have a 22mm on my R56. It now is a different car. The handling (non runflats) was terrible before the upgrade. The F56's suspension and damper control is quite different so it will be interesting to see how the new cars handle when pushed really hard.

Bob ...

I had a Vette with the Heads-Up-Display, well actually a few Vettes with it.

I agree on the new 2014 MCS I'm out.

Cathy and I did discuss it more than once but it just did not seem like a good idea so we finally decided to just not get it.
