F55/F56/F57 Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for F55/F56 MINI Cooper AND Cooper S models.
My 2015 Mini f55 is telling me something. And it sounds expensive. This is the section where it retreats into the transmission i assume.
I see a few different axels Online. But do I need a half axel or would this be the outer? One side is the axel nut through the hub. How is the other side attached internally where it's clicking?
And is this a job that one person can do on a weekend. Done a lot of Mini stuff. Just no CV axels or transmission work.
Thanks in advance

There's a circlip on the spline shaft going into the trans,
you should just be able to pop it out with a pry bar wedged between the housing, and trans.

I didn't see any rips but there was some grease at the first CV boot closest ti the wheel. So it probably needs work anyways..
Definitely shouldn't be any grease "just sort of around" and given the proximity to the CV boot and the clicking, the boot is likely torn (and the grease from within).
Hi Mr. Meowgi,
did you find a solution? I have a 2016 F55 S Automatic and I see the same symptom. I will pull the axles tomorrow to investigate further, but it sure seems like something is really wrong inside the transmission.
My son was driving the car we he heard a loud 'pop' upon acceleration and then no more power to the wheels.
I ended up needing the CV axle itself. the circlip on the very end that holds it into the transmission was worn down .
so I didn't worry about just trying to replace circlip. I just installed new axle I'm on the driver's side, because with my luck I felt like somehow I'd have to do it twice so I just put the whole new axle in
So, got home today and went to work. Pulled the Driver's side axle (the one that was wobbling) and the end of it is sheared off! Clearly not the same problem you experienced - I'll start a new thread.
One question, when you removed the axles, did fluid drain out? Mine did not, I am concerned that low fluid may have led to the broken axle.
I had very minimal trans fluid leak out when I pulled the axel. I expected more to drain out. But I couldn't really find much instruction on the Gen 3 so I just went with it.
Added back what fluid did drain out. But making sure the trans fluid is correct is another process by itself.
I swear if I didn't love my two Mini's I'd figure out a way to strangle them. Lol.
