F56 Trunk is Stuck Closed!

Hey guys, I currently have a 2014 Mini Cooper S and I have been having issues with my trunk. Its currently showing the "Trunk Opened" warning on my dash but my trunk is closed. Now I cant open it from the key fob, the back switch on the trunk, or the button by the pedals and "open hood" lever. Every time I try to do some research about the issue i run across the problem that someone cant open their trunk from the back but their Key fob works. So it doesnt help me because its a different issue. I cant figure out why it wont open maybe because the computer thinks its already open?? If someone had this issue some advice would help! Also cant seem to figure out if i can manually release the trunk for my model and year MINI! Thanks..

I believe there's an emergency release cable pull under the rear seat.
It sounds as though the hatch is partially unlocked, have someone push & pull the hatch while you tug on the cable.

Did you find solution?

Did you find a solution?
My F56 is doing the exact same thing. Trunk is stuck closed. Car says it is open. All the research I’ve done says the only way to access the mechanism is to remove the inside of the hatch. But you have to have it open to remove that. Ugh!!
Does anyone know an alternative way to get the trunk opened?

Reach under middle or rear seat bottom.
Find ring on end of cable
Pull ring

this “feature” was removed from coopers in 2008. There is no longer an emergency ring under the rear seat. I’m on my 5th Cooper and just don’t understand why they removed this feature.
My 2015 has a backup camera in the hatch trim so there are also no external screws that will remove the hatch trim. Everything has to be accessed from behind the panel. Unfortunately you have to have the hatch open in order to remove the panel.
Basically a really really stupid design.

I can see the cable for the emergency release here. I know they changed and not under the rear seat. Must be under that rear plastic trim.

On the other side is the, Cover Lock with Pull Rope.

Looks like thats in the trunk somewhere, I dont have an F56 here to check.
