Help identifying wire found near master cylinder

Hey Guys,

I was checking my brake fluid and noticed a random wire that was not connected (pictures below). I looked around the master cylinder for any missing connections but couldn't find one.
The wire looks to be coming out of the firewall or area underneath the wipers, but I have no idea what it is and what it should connect to. Help?

Thanks in advance!

(What the wire connector looks like)

(Where the other end of the wire is coming from)

Any takers? I'm the 2nd owner and I'm wondering if it belongs to an aftermarket part from the previous owner as the car runs fine without it plugged into anything.

Hard to see that picture showing were the wire goes. If it is inside cabin, trace it to see if it is near OBD port. Could be for a piggyback engine tuning module.

That is not a recognisable BMW connector so something aftermarket that has been removed from the car. Trace it back through the firewall.

Definitely looks like an aftermarket connector (i.e., not a BMW connector). I'm thinking maybe the previous owner had a GPS tracker on the car, or something similar.

Looks like a connector for a device to prevent one from getting speeding tickets......

Yep, maybe part of the old built in escort or V1

I was able to follow the wire and found it led to a connector connecting to the OBDII port (connector was just labeled OBDII and has a male and female end so you can connect another OBD II device), it had still not exactly sure what it was, but I just removed it and all is well again.

Thanks again everyone!
