Sirius Coding-- Dealer Can't Figure it Out

I took delivery of a leftover 2015 hardtop S a couple weeks ago. Car has the JCW Pro Exhaust, love it. Decided to pop for the Sirius Sat radio activation-- $550 at Mini of Chicago. Turned the car in Monday morning. Still don't have the car back, and was just told that it will be next week at the earliest before the work is done. Here is a thumbnail sketch of what they've done:
Monday: Radio coding "crashed." New radio on order.
Tuesday: New radio received, coding of new radio failed.
Wednesday: Same as Tuesday.
Friday: Sorry, car still isn't ready, won't be ready until next week at the earliest. Need to wait for another radio.

Seems to me that they're trying the same thing over and over again and getting the same result. Has anyone had a similar problem with Sirius programming? The idea that Mini of Chicago is keeping my car for over a week to do what has been characterized on this forum as a reasonably straightforward activation is frustrating and concerning to me. What happens when something really goes wrong with the car??

hi, MINI/BMW can build perfect cars, these Radios where built and bought from somewhere on earth......therefor should the quality be the same as the car...thats the shame....when it bugs at the software. Or at the guy who did not read the manual...

Update on this. Turned the car in for Sirius activation on 3/7. Got it back today. Work is done. Bottom line, this coding or activation or whatever might not be as trivial as it seems. I have four pages of paperwork to prove it. On the bright side, Mini of Chicago was professional and courteous throughout the unfortunate encounter.

Thats crazy it did not take. The newer MINIs have a pretty advanced HU system. The good thing is the Siruis on the H/K F56+ sounds so much better then the Gen 2 H/K w/ siruis i have it on my R58 JCW and it has a little echo sound.

Hang on, does that mean that even if you haven't gotten Sirius from factory, you can just activate it?!

If you have the option , it can be turned on , this was just a rare case where it could not take the code and flash I believe.

Yes, all the new MINIs have the satellite prep. You need the activation code, esys software and a cable. A few of us here have done it. It will still cost ano5ut $200, but cheaper than the $500 the dealer wants

so confusing. I have a 2016 F55. Very simple, as I use it for a DD utility vehicle. No CD player, nav system, just a base model.
The BMW dealer’s warranty checklist says “XM activated” but I see only FM & AM under Radio. Dealer now says “oh it doesn’t have SAT, never did.”
No explanation about the programming.
I can’t believe if my 15-16yo cars had XM as standard somehow this car doesn’t.

how can I verify?
