That’s a beautiful intake, but I’m just looking for a high flow drop in for now. The one that came stock has an extra thick padding glued onto it!
I went with the AFE dry drop in. Don't bother with any "filters on a stick" the only intake sytem worth getting if your budget allows would be the eventuri

Do you notice any difference in intake sound with the AFE?
Well the stock one comes with a separate sponge filter glued to the base. So to answer your question, yes, a little of both. I’d take a better sounding intake, a possible hp gain, and maybe even some improved consumption for $50. Seems like a no brainer to me! At the very least the engine will breathe better!

Finally found someone who makes one, but there's no way I'm not spending this type of coin for 2 layers of foam and some wire! Well maybe I would....no! Maybe? ITG: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-itg-air-...15hmp-954~itg/
For sure! It's way overpriced for some foam and glue! But the same can easily be said about the eventuri! If $100 is too much, then what's $1,700+? It sure is a pretty piece of kit though!
100% agree, it's a work of art, just hidden under the hood! :/ At that price point, think I may go with a drop in filter that may give me 5+/- hp, plus a racechip that gives me 20-30 hp. Will give me 2-3x the hp for 1/2 the price. And maybe I'll use some of the left over $$ to get a charge pipe and down pipe. @ECSTuning do you carry those pipes for a 2021 JCW Clubman?
Thanks for the links! These look awesome! Do you happen to have any performance spec's on those pipe replacements? I heard if not the correct size for the engine, it can actually be a bit of a detriment at lower RPM'S. Any insight?
Wanted to come full circle on this. I ended up going with a BMC drop in filter rather than the ITG foam one for $110. Still spent a bit more than I wanted, but just couldn't bring myself to spend that type of money on some foam. Intake sounds a bit deeper now.
What are you actually basing this on? Just the looks of the sponge or real-world test data...???
Oh boy, your question is like opening a can of worms! I think conventional wisdom suggests, the more cold air going into an engine, the more efficient it will run. In turn, producing more power. Here's a great video (love this guy), comparing stock filters vs a high performance. He tests both on the dyno as well as "real world" using a vbox:
I suggest watching the whole thing, but if you're just interested in the results, check around 6:05 for the dyno numbers and 10:40 for "real world" results.
