Has anyone attached a front euro plate to their Clubby? I am planning on it when mine arrives, would like to know in advance what items to purchase/parts would work best.
Thanks!

the OE part for GE1 cars is thin and flexible ... it would work (may require some shaping on the back side ....) but requires drilling into the bumper cover ... sure you want to do that?
realisticly you could just drill two holes into the bumper cover and screw down the tag .... cut some rubber or plastic to make a wear guard where it contacts ....
my 79 has a plastic front clip and that's all I did to attach my tag ....
I'm prepared to drill into the bumper, but want to only do it once with the proper plate holder. Thats a lovely '79 there.
i actually just replaced my front black trim piece because there were holes drilled for the standard license plate, which isn’t required where in live. The holes were bothering me. If you want to save yours, I’d be willing to sell my old one cheap. Shipping may not be worth it, but if you’re in the north east it may not be bad.
This is my front plate, just had it made
My parents (and myself to a lesser extent) are big Beatles fans, they have this as their actual plate, So its a nice homage to them and to put something British on the front.
I purchased my plate from the site below. They have a variety of plate frames that have multiple hole options for mounting. My car had the factory USA plate mount, which was a big box and not needed as AZ doesn't require a front plate. When I took this off, the bumper had noticeably faded from the sun around it. I purchased a euro plate to cover the fading. It turned out the factory mounting holes for the US plate holder are closer together than the state plate holes, requiring a frame to bolt the euro plate using the factory holes. A black plastic frame is included with the license plate order. Metal and other frames options are extra.
After a few months, I wanted to mount the plate flush with the bumper as on euro cars. I tested using three strips of 3M velcro tape to mount the plate directly to the bumper (one strip at each end, and one in the center, all mounted vertically). I also carefully rounded the plate to match the curve of the bumper. It's worked great for the past four months and is very secure. I do need to take the plate off when using an automatic care wash.
Yes, thanks! Since I know now that these holes are drilled at the dealer, it makes more sense that the plate holders don't have common mounting points.
I'll more than likely be drilling my own holes for the holder that I have.
Ok, I finally get to wrap this thread up. The part that I ordered was correct. The bumper on the car has divots in it to place either the US front plate holder or the Euro holder which I got, the holes matched up perfectly. The US plate holder came with 2 screws that I used to mount the Euro holder. Everything just worked out perfect. I used some 3M VSB tape to affix the plate to the holder and voila, instant euro plate!
