Electrical 8 Psi Boost
8 Psi Boost
I did the Autometer boost guage install this weekend. And i'm only getting 5psi boost and 8psi max @ 6000. I hope there is a kink in the tube. Has anyone else had this problem? I drive a sport w/o the reduction pully (its in my toolbox though), and alta CAI.
thanks
thanks
Yeah there must be a leak somewhere. I am running a autometer BST gauge and getting 16PSI with a M7 16% reduction pulley. something is wrong. I would follow your lines and double check the connections. Spike

Ya I installed my Autometer on my Stock 05' MCS and getting 8 PSI max also...so guess that is good to hear that there are no leaks or kinks. So 8 PSI is pretty standard for a stock Mini?
8 psi just seems too low. The original poster said he gets 8 psi @ 6k rpm which is about 1 lb less than I get. I'm hitting 9 psi before 6k rpm and it slowly pulls up to 10 by redline. My measurements were taken in 90+ degree Florida heat so my numbers should go up when weather gets cooler. I've seen a lot of posts from people with 15% pulley's who get 14+ lbs of boost.
15% pulley ~ 15 psi (Caribbean~90 F, very humid)
The gauge in my sig still had a tad bit to go before redline, then again these gauges aren't the most accurate in the world. I didn't have the gauge before the pulley, so no info there.
I would say that 8 psi is low for a stocker, should be somewhere around 10, check your belt first and go from there.

Boost before and after
I had a 2% crank pulley and 15% sc pulley installed july 10 this year on MINI born 10/20/06 and 10000 miles. Car was dynoed the Thursday before and dyno indicated 10.3 lbs. @ 6850 RPM. Gauge showed abt 10 lbs. temp in the shop was 92 degrees and 75% humidity.
After pulley install boost gauge shows abt 15 lbs boost but then blows hose off the T fitting
( if I give it sudden WOT ) More moderate throttle application doesn't do that! With the pulley install pressure comes in much quicker ( what we wanted in the first place ) and vacuum is also deeper abt 22 inches.
I will be putting the car back on the dyno soon and will report that along with mileage which did not seem to suffer from the new pulley. Normal highway milage on this car is 31 - 32 MPG with AC.

(if possible
) of what to check in what order..? Im sure it could be made sticky and you would win the award for being to coolest person ever!
