Harman Kardon: could I fit one in my MCS

I own an 04 MCS without Harman Kardon. A friend of mine just took out its HK head unit, amp and speakers and I would like to buy it. Will it fit in my car?

Yeah, the wiring harness is different, although, there is a retofit kit.

Its VERY pricey though.

Your best bet is to go aftermarket. For the price of the retrofit kit, you could get a nice alpine headunit, an Alpine iPod adapter and 6 nice speakers to go along with it and have a very sweet sounding system.

From what I've read here, the head unit is exactly the same between HK and non-HK stereos.

yes they are the same, but you still need the hk speakers, amp and wiring.

You can transfer the HK system if the friend also removes the wiring. To do that and install in your car are straightforward but fairly involved in removing interior panels and probably the rear seat.

Don't do it!
The H/K has different wiring right from the back of the head unit, down the passenger side of the car to the H/K amp, and also to all four speaker locations.
Also, the wiring inside each door is different, along with more connections between door and car!

It's really a crazy way to go if you want to update your stereo.
