When there's a need to remove one of these (blue, far left),



what's the best method for covering the exosed bare wire caused by the connector? I'm thinking that there might be some kind of liquid that solidifies as an insulator... I'm using electrical tape for now, but with a thin wire, in a tight location, I know that I'm not doing a very good job...

Are you referring to a "scotch lock"?
There is liquid electrical tape, and of course heat shrink tube.

 

Liquid electrical tape. Any hardware store should have it. It's great for difficult to reach spots or delicate wires.

PARTSMAN109 & Ken, thanks! Something Home Depot should have? I have shrink tubes, but that requires at least one end of the wire to be free... One of the wires in on the coil (removed & sold a shift light)...

 

How about Glue gun?

Home Depot for sure does, and in a few colors. Plus, it smells great!!!

 

I don't use them because the connections often go flakey. I trim the
insulation, solder the new wire, and then either heatshrink or tape it.

 

I agree with that! I use tha Add-a-Circuit/fuse's when I can now...

 

To answer the original question, using a piece of electrical tape is good.
You could also use some RTV, which should insulate well and hold up
fine. Just clean the wire with some brake cleaner or alcohol first so that
the RTV adheres well. You could apply it with a small stick or a Q-tip.

 

Pete, thank you. I picked-up some of that liquid tape tonight (about 6 bucks), and I can see where this will come in handy on a few projects, and not just the MINI. I like the Q-tip idea as the included applicator is a bit on the large side... Thanks again everyone!
