Hi Beam wire?

Does anybody know which of these wires is to the high beam and also which one is a ground wire? Or an easy access to the high beam wire some place under the dash?

The photo is of the plug into the head light bucket on an 05 with xenon.

I want to tap into the high beam so that I can just flash my highs and activate the garage door opener. I looked at tapping into the fuse box but too much of a project to get the box open and access the underside of the plate.

Thanks.

all you have to do to flash your highs is turn the parking lights on and pull back

no I think he means to but a relay on the high beam wire so that when current passes through it it will activate the relay switch there by activating the garage door transciever

Excuse me……..”That’s dumb” is uncalled for.

By wiring the garage door remote into the high beam circuit, I can eliminate having to reach for the remote button, but simply flick the high beams (readily at hand) and driver right in.

Putting a switch in the dash, why do that when I have a perfectly good garage door opener clipped to the visor…………..need I say it?

whatever bud, not my problem if your BC1 frys because of the smallest little add on to the electrical system.

i already had a problem touching factory wiring, and after seeing how everything is interconnected, its not worth it. when my headlight circuit shorted because of the relay for the driving lights i had on it was too large of a draw for the BC1, it toasted whatever circuits functioned the brake lights.

it was a $400 mistake. I got off lucky, all i had to pay was labor. dont do the same thing, find another way to do it.

I'm not sure what all the trouble about a garage door opener is. I have one that also clips to the visor. All I did was remove the clip and laid in the tray under the emergency brake handle. (attached with double sided tape). It works great. I have also seen them under the switches in the center. Again double sided tape or velcro.

Damn, Red - someone **** in your wheaties this morning, or are you channeling kaelaria?

Saying something like:
"Be careful - I ended up frying my BC1 when I added a relay that drew too much current."
provides the same information in a respectful and informative way. People DO come here to learn about the car and effective ways to mod it.

I like the 'flash the brights' option of GDO, but I went for the Ian Cull auto-up/GDO option - opens the garage with the unlock toggle.

As for the original question, I don't have the wiring diagram handy, but I'll try to remember tonight.

I don't believe it was caused by the current draw but it could easily have been caused by the inductive spikes of the relay coil.
There are no such inductive coil spikes in a garage opener, so no chance of the same type of fault.
