Electrical Front Brake Service reset not resetting
Front Brake Service reset not resetting
I have tried to reset a bunch of times the Front Brake Service reset warning, but it just doesn't want to budge.
I've gone in the Service reset screen and turned off the ignition and gone back in to reset, but when I turn the ignition on it stills displays.
The brakes are still good (no squeaks or anything) and still stops on a dime.
I have a 2008 Mini Cooper S. I have K+DCAN cable, but not sure how to reset it with it. Only used NCSExpert and Dash Commander. Never been able to get ISIS or Carsoft to work.

Not sure if this is even remotely relevant, but you might check with the dealer. The last time my R56 justa was at the dealer (two weeks ago), it was showing an improper alert for front brakes as well, and it required a software upgrade to resolve it.
Of course, the upgrade also broke the auto-lock feature, but that's another story...

If the sensor has tripped the maintenance reminder chances are you probably need to replace your brakes. Yes, the sensor does trip quite a bit of time before you need the brakes, but these Minis run through brakes like nothing I've ever seen for a small car.
You might want to clarify your post a bit and let us know if you've replaced the brakes or not. At 36k miles depending on your driving conditions you're probably due regardless of their squeaking or not. That'd be a good start.
The warning comes from Two sources...
The mile countdown AND the physical sensor....if the wire on the pad is cut/dammage, it must be replaced.....you do this when you replace the pads.

The indicator won't reset if the sensor has gone off, even for stage one. The sensor goes off for stage one at about 6mm of pad left, that usually sets the countdown to 6 or 10k miles. Stage two is when the pads get to the minimum spec, 3mm. You may think there's still pad left at that point.
Well, I guess I am gonna' have to buy new pads, then.
I've always loved how the Mini stops on a dime. Excellent Brakes!
Any recommendations on good replacement pads?
