I'm new in this forum i made the tutorial to read the ecu from my mini 04 r53 because i need change one feature in there (my lights is always on when i flip key and i can't turn off using the switch. I search this option but i can find it, and another thing i can do is read BC1 i receive one error saying
Error in CABD! Look at CABI.ERR and ERROR.LOG IFH-0009: ECU not connected or doesn't answer
i made a dump form ABG,EMS,EWS,KMB,LWS,MK60,RAD,RIP but i can't find headlights options in there.
can anyone help me?

Do you mean that you have the daytime running light option enabled? Is it the high beams that are always on? IIRC, the DRL function runs the high beams at low voltage. I’m pretty sure that option is in the BC1 (body control) module.

The thing is i can't read bc1 it doesn't exist in my ecu, when i try this with inpa i give a error saying bc1 not found, control unit found zke4, so i think i have zke4, how i change the parametres of ncs to read zke4? thanks
Well, I'm not intimately familiar with all the modules in every year of R53, but I would think you should have the BC1 module. It's the body control module in the passenger footwell. I've never heard of a zke4 module.
I've been playing around with ECS-Expert and had good luck changing many settings in my BC1. Now I'm looking to change my wheels from the 205/45 r17 to a 225/45 r15 and would like to know if anyone has successfully adjusted their speedo and odometer to account for the tire size change. I have been playing with a couple fields in my KMB module but my speedometer seems to not be affected. Here's the values I've played with.
K_ZAHL_TACHO -> The default data value is 4A,80 and I've tried changing this to 6F,C0 which should be close to a 50% increase. I've also tried more modest values such as F2,99.
K_ZAHL_TACHO_KOMPL -> Same as above. I would change this setting to match the setting above.
If anyone has any information on how the K_ZAHL_TACHO and K_XAHL_TACHO_KOMPL are related I would love to hear it.
What's the "actual" tire diameter difference in your current tires and the ones that you "want" to use ?
If it's only a mile an hour or so...don't worry about it. I went from the stock 17" wheels to 16", BUT to a slightly taller tire. It only adds about 1-1/2 MPH to the speedometer reading at 65 MPH. Doesn't bother me.
Knowing that most speedometers are VERY SELDOM correct anyway.

Im switching to a 225/45 r15 so it's about 5% smaller. I understand that realistically it's only going to be just above 5k additional miles added to my car every 100k miles, but if it's possible to change I'd much rather do that.
On a side note I was unsuccessful in attempting to NETTODAT code the KMB. I modified the NETTODAT.TRC file using NCSDummy and then added entries with my values. I then exported to NETTODAT.MAN and then in ECS_expert I used the coapiSgByNettoDat function but it returns an error "COAPI-1063: CABD-parameter error NETTODATEN_CODIEREN". I've seen a couple things stating this error is caused by the module not supporting the NETTODATEN_CODIEREN function. I'm really hoping this doesn't mean my KMB module doesn't support writing Nettodaten files to it. Any advice is totally welcome. :(
All my troubles came from my cable...bought cheap China version only compatible with cars after a certain date . My car requires pin8 and pin7 tied together....took my cable apart attached both pins together. Now NCSexpert can read my VIN and i have programmed driver side window 1 touch up !
Our K+DCAN USB Interface came in the beginning unlike products from
other vendors with full backward compatibility to older K-Line
equipped vehicles, many of those vehicles use besides the primary KLine on pin7 also the secondary K-Line on pin8 for additional modules
(ECUs). Unfortunately on the latest F Series DCAN equipped vehicles
that pin got re-used as Ethernet activation which interfered with that
full backward compatibility by causing connection problems.
Because most customers prefer the ability to work on latest DCAN
equipped vehicles over the full backward compatibility to older K-Line
equipped vehicles - pin8 was physically removed from the Interface to
enable that. The consequence from that step is that when used in
backward compatibility mode on older K-Line equipped vehicles that
the Interface now only covers modules (ECUs) connected to the
primary K-Line on pin7. Modules (ECUs) connected to the secondary KLine on pin8 will no longer be directly accessible.

Has anybody ever enabled all the stuff in the on board trip computer? It appears that there is a 1/4 timer, along with a 0-100 timer (I presume that's kph, because that would be 0-61.8 mph). Also, you can control how bright or dim the LCD backlight is. I'm discovering all sorts of interesting things in there!
Updating this thread with comments I added to the R56 thread as I just couldn't get the versions in the GTECK thread to work for me. I could not connect to my car (VIN is faulty), ultimately went for a newer version a from Bimmergeeks (https://www.bimmergeeks.net/) on a Windows 7 x86 (important) VM, and everything worked first try. Simpler install as well. I'm using a cheap Amazon cable with a switch (
Hi, like many I have messed with this for many hours and keep getting faulty vin message. I used the silver k+dcan cable with selector switch to "dcan" position (pins 7-8 shorted I measured) and it still does it. INPA recognizes cable and ignition with the black dot thing.
I have successfully coded my BMW using the more updated tools from bcables installer thing they have. But it doesn't seem to want to connect to this mini, or NCS Expert won't. This is just running on straight windows 10 surface tablet. It worked fine on my BMW.
Any updated ideas? The profile from these forums according to that PDF guide gives an error, I'm using a generic "dummy profile for NCS Expert 4.x"
I'm about out of ideas and tempted to just go with the Carly thing but I rather do it this way as it's more powerful set of tools. I just want to turn off the ridiculous auto lock (but it doesn't auto unlock, infuriating).

Thx for the response. I will try it using that profile step by step on a different laptop fresh install using his google drive link files. It did have one question on installation regarding hardware interface I just selected OBD. It wasn’t covered in the guide. I will try it tonight and report back.
I have a feeling all the datens and order of operations matters. I’m using windows 10 but it worked fine on my BMW.
Yea Carly is super shady they claimed it works on the mini but more searching seemed to show what you say. Not supported much for R50 and probably surely not for advanced operations like coding. If I can get this NCS to work it’s best. You almost need an engineering degree to figure out German cars lol. And I have one! It’s still difficult with all the many file versions program versions hardware versions etc I do this sort of thing for work so that helps. All sorts of crazy software and hardware platforms over the years. Some things even still use serial comms / dialer the old windows app. Cars can be the same. Auto makers won’t update the software tools always they just use emulators even at dealer level. Sad.
Yeah, the legacy systems in old BMWs are not exactly straightforward to deal with. It doesn't help that a lot of it was originally in German. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm much help with installation because I set mine up a long time ago and don't really remember it well. I also have all my Mini coding stuff along with ETKA installed on an XP laptop instead of something modern. I really need to image that drive...
If you use Revtor maybe that is the key. I just tried to install his package of stuff, went through all that, and NCS Expert won't run on this win10 laptop. It says "this app can't run on your pc". I will try 3.x with revtor I guess, I don't know. I don't think NCS Expert will run on WIn10 whatever version he had anyway it won't. And then that profile doesn't work with 4.x, so what am I supposed to do? Emulate I guess lol

When you install. You need to select compatibility mode. Then select xp service pack 2. Then run as administrator.
Greystone how or where did you get the win7 x86 VM? Hmmm. I did this years ago with some GM software in a XP VM. It would be easier to free install XP into a VM or download it already installed, than win7 I'm assuming
