hey pm me or my husband (lxjose9xl) and we can try to help you with anything you need. my mini is auto too so yes it was very hard to get the shift **** off and its even harder to put it back on. he also created his own connection from the sensor to the tube connected to the gauge that measures boost.

Stupid question: how do you program the guages to be red or white? does it get connected to the headlights switch? what if you wanted it to be red all the time?

It depends on how you wire it, but there are instructions for when the gauge is red/ white (and no, it is not wired to the headlight control.)

 

Changing the color setup is as simple as switching the wires around from Illumination and 12volt switched. It's a simple change that can be done when installed in 2 seconds.

I installed my gauges last night. They work great and look fantastic BUT:

I noticed it too, and believe its the little silver button. I haven't figured out how to shut it up yet.

and am I the only one who is annoyed by the start-up beep?

 

#1. To shut off the initial alarm, hold down on the button while starting and that should silence it (check the instructions that came with the gauge).
#2. The rattling is from the buttons as they pass thru the lexan/plexiglass or whatever the face is made of. I called Prosport (Alta didn't have a fix) and they told me to ever so slightly turn the gauge bezel to "firm up the lens on the shaft of the button". I have not done this yet and I am waiting for a new transducer and I am going to redo the install (using the felt rather than the 3m tape to "lock" the gauges in the cups.

I checked today.
My R56 doesn't have a MAP sensor. I guess it's a different spec that the US spec cars.

How else can i tap the boost sensor to the car? I was hoping there would be a clean and nice way to do it just like how Alta has that stand-off plate.

 

Well, I silenced the start-up alarm no problem, but I can't for the life of me get the face of the gauge to turn for the damn rattling. Any thoughts?

 

You might give Prosports a call. They are very nice to talk to. Google for the contact info. (I haven't tried to turn mine yet. I will try tomorrow).

 

I don't really have much of an update. I received my oil temp gauge from ProSport but it was too deep to use next to the tach. It was also missing the sensor, so I was able to send that back and I placed an order for the correct shallow gauge yesterday. The premium peak/warn 52mm and premium peak/warn 60mm are the only shallow gauges from them that will work.

For those looking at going oil temp and pressure, the sensors that ProSport supplies are actually quite small. As soon as I get mine I can start looking at what it will take to make an adapter.

 

I too have the rattle from the button. I am working on a fix right now, I will let you all know how it goes.

Here are some pics and I do have them installed. You are still able to push the buttons, but no rattle. Pics tomorrow. I think it looks good, not perfect but better than it rattling.

Supplies. Paper punch, Outlet Sealer (or similar foam), and razor blade.

 

Punch some holes in the outlet sealer like this.

 

Then I cut a slit in the small punch out piece so it looks like PacMan. Hard to tell from the pic. Then take it out, pull the button out a tad, open up Pac Man and have him munch the button. It works well, and looks decent.

 

Good move. You can probably also "punch out" a couple of pac-men from the felt (one side sticky) that came with the gauges.

(I like your purple hole punch...it matches the packaging on your plug insulation...)

My initial feeling is that it works well. I drove it to work today with them on, and it is way better. As for the purple punch, I had to force myself into Roberts Craft Store to buy it.

 

I went out and used the foam tape and it works like a charm. I think I'll redo it, because it ain't pretty! (I couldn't find the hole punch, so I used an x-acto knife.)

Also, I just cut a slit in the middle of the circle (not to the edge) for aesthetic reasons.

 

I just did the full slit, and I think it looks good. I really doubt anyone will ever even notice. And I don't think it looks bad at all. Glad it worked for ya!
