yeah, I'm just OCD about things like that. I've spent the last week straightening the gauge within the pod. I'll never be happy

you know though, for the price of the gauge we shouldn't have to do this

Yeah I kinda agree. But then again, it came in a "kit" and the red matches well at night. I mean, it sure beats having to try and find something that matches the night colors on your own. I think the gauge itself should have some sort of rubber grommet around the opening to keep it from rattling.

I can confirm that using a hole punch and outlet sealer does indeed quiet the rattles and does not look bad at all. If the sealer was black you wouldn't even see it, but even in the color it comes in, it's barely noticeable.

I tried not doing the Pac Man approach and tried to just cut a hole in the middle but the material isn't strong enough to survive being stretched over the button (if you use the hole punch to keep the size as small as possible). The Pac Man technique is definitely the way to go.

Big kudos to Master78 - that rattling was really annoying!

My new boost sending unit came today (5 days for "priority mail"!) and I redid my gauges using the felt to secure them in the pods rather than the 3m tape (there was a little space btw the hood and the pod on my first try and I wanted to clean it up). I had zero luck with turning the bezels to stop the rattle (as suggested by the folks at prosports), so I used a hold punch and made a couple of "pac men" out of the felt (black) and scrunched the pieces under the buttons and , no rattle and the felt is near invisible on the dark face and under the head of the button.

My boost gauge is back in action with the temp gauge and everything is good again. The more I look at the gauges, I think the way to go is to get the black satin gauge overlays for the tach and speedo.

can someone take a picture if they:
A. just have the boost gauge, and not a dual gauge set up (just to see it)
B. where people are putting the "pac man" to stop the rattling???

SPFDHED you said that prosport told you to do the pac man trick?? If that is so, it is kind of crazy. I thought that I just came up with that on my own.....but now they are telling people to do that. Wow, maybe they should just include the pac man with the gauges and save everyone the trouble.

No, they(prosport) didn't tell me to do that, I just copied your idea. They told me to turn the bezel face to "tighten" the button shaft against the hole in the face. It didn't work when I tried it. I still think for the price we paid for the gauges, we shouldn't have to come up with a "shade tree" fix.

Got this done today with Masterd78's help, what a great guy for helping me thru the steps. Here's the single gauge, I have it on the right side, since my girls pic is on the left. Thanks for the help masterd78

Also, im not sure if everyone is the same but when i took my wipers off, i just unscrewed the nut, and bent it as if i were changing the wiper blades, and they came right off.

I'll take another pic in the daytime.

Aside from the rattling problem (thanks again masterd78!) I'm extremely pleased with these gauges.

Alta - any plans for a pillar pod for 2 more gauges? I'd love to get a Wideband A/F and EGT or Oil Pressure gauge as well. (Guess I should probably ask that in the Alta Q&A thread)

I kinda have a breakdown on page 6 of this thread. Hole punch, razor, and some insulating foam or similar.

Does it automatically switch colors when you turn your lights on? Or is it set to one color constantly? Or how does that work.

Also, what are the average max boost pressure people are getting with stock? or with mods?

Can someone explain at what point to much pressure is bad vs the right amount which is good.
