*Postponed* - 8th EIM Border Skirmish Drive -- Apr 25th
At first blush, it would seem that a drive from Bellevue to Dubuque would constitute a rather abbreviated 25 mile journey...but you'll discover that the route mostly takes advantage of some great secondary roads on the Illinois side of the river which, quite frankly, are in better condition for the most part than many of Iowa's primary roads.
The 8th EIM Border Skirmish Drive passes through Iowa's only island town (Sabula) and once across the border, Mt. Carroll, Elizabeth, Hanover, Savanna, Galena, and back into Iowa with the finish in Dubuque.
Other highlights include a photo op in Sabula, a lunch stop in Elizabeth, the scenic overlook at Mississippi Palisades State Park, a rest and shop stop in Galena, and a wrap-up dinner at a popular family restaurant in Dubuque.
The EIM Event Calendar Entry (<--link) here on NAM includes additional information and links to (1) a Google route map and (2) a detailed set of driving directions. You'll also find the sign-up link here, which will help make sure we know to expect you.
It will be great to get out and motor!

Regrettably Pam and I will miss our first Border Skirmish... Thought it best to stay with her as she recovers from surgery. :(
Have fun, we shall enjoy through the pictures.
Also regret being able to see Daryl (and Leo) again. Hi from us.

We are certainly hoping for her speedy recovery. We'll miss you guys and will do our best to "rock the red" in your absence.
*ALERT*
Please note that we are postponing this drive, likely until sometime in June.
The activities for the day are dependent on decent weather, which it looks like we're not going to get. Cold rain and a stiff northeast wind are not conducive to fun.
Especially sorry that we'll miss seeing deanman.

I agree that stinks. But we have taken the weekend off and have hotel reservations so Sue and I have decided to go anyway and make the best of it.(may not be around in June) Anyone else that feels daring enough to take on old mother nature is welcome to join us as we are going to follow the coarse that was planned and times.

What a fantastic day. Miniturns and I had a blast taking the route anyway. The Weather wasn't too bad, a tad windy. But still fun. It's too bad we didn't get a few more to brave the "predicted weather". We do have some pics too.
Just got home, as we made a whole weekend of it. I agree with EIMTeal we had a lot of fun too. Enjoyed motoring with you guys, Sure glad we went it was well worth it. Very nice route Gary, we added a few more miles to it, via Wisconsin.
Thanks for doing the bonus pre-drive and for the endorsement; glad you got lucky with the rain.
