Time to get the 2012 MINI motoring season rolling (ripe language for a Linda and Tom pun, but I resisted...).

Our traditional first-of-the-year Meet-n-Eat will be held at the Wig and Pen Pub on the Coralville Strip in Iowa City on Saturday, January 28th. We'll congregate between 10:30 - 10:45 am at the restaurant (in the larger parking lot to the west of the building) with lunch planned for 11:00 am.

Edit: After lunch, bsteig has invited us over to their place for cookies and to discuss alternative lodging arrangements for the May HPMS event in Branson, MO. We'll provide directions at the meet.


Please RSVP by clicking the link in the Event Calendar entry (<--link) so we can give the restaurant a good head count. Also, we'll likely be splitting a single check among the group so plan on bringing cash to help facilitate that process.


One other note: think you’re familiar with the variety of paint colors marketed by MINI since 2002? It could prove beneficial...

I was looking forward to meeting everyone for the first time at this event. Unfortunately I will be on a business trip January 24-29 and will miss all the fun. I look forward to the next event!

 

Is there any color besides Purple Haze Metallic??!! Just kidding!

 

Update: After our lunch, bsteig has invited us over to their place for cookies and to discuss the alternative lodging arrangements we're planning for the May HPMS "MINIs Occupy Branson" event in Branson, MO (see separate planning thread for more details). Sounds like more MINI fun to me.

 

Based on feedback and RSVPs received, I just called W&P and gave them an estimate of 36 souls... Should be a good showing!

It was great having such a large turnout. So good to see so many friends. Really enjoyed meeting the new folks and seeing their MINIs too.

Also, many thanks to bsteig for hosting us over at their house afterward for all of the nice treats, not to mention sharing their points so that we can get such a great deal on the timeshares for the May event near Branson. It's going to be great!

 

I love that pensive look that Alyce is displaying at the W&P. *I'm certain she's imagining all the fun we're going to have in the luxury accommodations that she arranged for us in Branson!*
