What are you runnin?
Hey all,
Just wondering, sense I'm new here. I was just wondering what everyone is running for intake and exhaust systems.
I've been lookin around and I was wonderin if anyone had experience with the Injen or K&N intakes?
Also, its lookin like the Megan exhaust, but again, just wondering if anyone has any opinions or helpful insight!!
Thanks!
Jon

Jon, on my previous R50 I had the Megan catback. It had a great, deep, throaty sound and I liked it a lot. Good value for the price. It's a bit louder than many of the available aftermarket set-ups. For some folks, the drone at highway speeds becomes a bit much on long trips.
I know D3m0N has the Milltek exhaust on his R50. It seems to be less intrusive than the Megan. I've always thought it had a more classic, refined tone but still very sporty and a good fit for the MINI. He's not far from you; he might let you take a listen sometime...
I ran the aFe intake with the Pro-Dry filter (I didn't want to have to mess with oiling a filter). Very satisfied.

If there were actual gains in hp or mpg it was small enough to be buried in the noise of normal tank-to-tank, road, and seasonable variability. I have no real objective measures. Now, my "butt dyno" seemed to detect some improvement in throttle responsiveness and that was good enough for me. The audible improvements were unmistakable.

Haha. I've noticed that the "butt dyno" does work. Sense the MINI is so touchy, it does sometimes make you verbalize what you are thinking. Haha. As long as it makes it feel better and sounds good, I'm down with it.
