Good place for brakes in Dubuque?
I need to get my brakes done, anyone have a favorite place in Dubuque? I want to buy some Mintex Redbox pads and some OEM rotors, and just pay an installer, but I dont think it works that way. Any advice?
Hopefully a few of the Dubuque locals will be along in time to give you some viable suggestions.
In the meantime, you might consider the prospect of undertaking the work on your own. A few years ago, I never would have considered it but I happened to run across these two excellent DIY threads:
Front brakes:

Rear brakes:

...and it gave me the confidence to try it myself. Result? A couple of years ago a performed a wholesale swap to PowerSlot rotors and CarboTech Bobcat 1521 pads, along with cleaning and painting my calipers, using the info in these links as a guide. Finished the job without a hitch, with the satisfaction of knowing that it was all done with tender loving care.
Something to consider. Good luck!

I enjoy doing it myself as well (but i'm sure anyone that knows me will tell you that i enjoy about anything that has to do with working on cars, especially my MINI). And brakes are actually quite easy to do.

Looks like Im going to the mechanic then. I'm a DIY kinda guy, but when it comes to parts that make my car stop, I think I'd rather have help or take it to a pro. Anyone in East Iowa want a few cases of beer?! I'd really love to see this done in person.

I'm about 45 miles east of Dubuque, in Warren, Illinois. My brother has always helped me with changing my brakes out, painting calipers, installing slotted/cross drilled rotors. It is really simple.
If you still need help, hit us up. I don't drink beer, but for $20 each, we'd do your brakes for you and you could watch.
