I've read about using some steel wool, but have my qualms about the wool flaking and entering the engine. I'm going to be installing it this Friday, when i get a day off of work, So i am looking for something i could possibly grab around town and have ready to go.

And I will be installing the Silicon IC boots and the Silicone intake hose, too. I'll take some pictures for you guys =).
Hi Agarwaen,
Pleae PM me your contact info and I will get you taken care of Sorry for the confusion!

Jarid, you went above and beyond the call of customer service. Going through the trouble of shipping me a package for only some foam rings. You will definitely see more orders coming my way in the future.

Thank you.

Alright, Its Friday. I installed the OCC. And gave the silicone hose another chance. I got it to fit, bit wonky and a little kinked, though.

OCC was a breeze, It will be plenty easy getting those foam rings in there when i get them. The SC side IC boot was easy enough, the intake side was a bit tighter.

You can see how it had to be twisted and everything to get it on.

And that's the kink i spoke of.

Happy enough, as long as that hose stays in place.

The kink to me looks like it is due to being a little too long. I have shaved the tubes down a little to get the best fit. Also check to make sure that you are not twisted, that will do it as well.

I'm pretty sure it is twisted, I had to put it on a bit sideways, to get it to stay on the TB. I also have a lot of left over hose from my OCC that i can hook up to the Crank case vent to give myself more leway with that little hose. I'm not to worried about it at the moment, As I know i will be back in the area soon. I might have accidentally broke the bottom baffle off of the fresh air tube. So.. Ill have to plug that up with something, unless i want all that hot air getting in.

I could probably make the hose fit better by shaving some off of the bottom, but I don't really like the idea of taking a knife to a hundred dollar tube.

Anyway, off to Home Depot for a DIY air splitter =).

Not the first or the last time I will likely have to do it. Every car is different.

Agarwaen,

The hose does look pretty twisted, try removing the fresh air tube again, and loosten both of the clamps on the silicone tube. The hose should then straighten out. Then tighten the bottom connection, reinstall the fresh air tube, and install the top part of the silicone hose on the box with the clamp. If it's still fitting weird, let us know, thanks!

Boy, driving withthat kink in it made it feel like the A/C was on all the time. I pulled everything back off today and wrapped my Fresh Air Tube in some high temp aluminium tape. Not really relevant to Alta, though. I also pulled my hose, and shaved it down like deflake suggested. I was surprised how much had to be removed before it would fit better(about 3/8 of an inch). I put it back on with the FAT off. And it was perfect. Put the FAT back on, and a tiny kink appeared from the hose contacting the FAT. But that is a MINI problem not Alta, I wouldn't have mentioned it but I like to be thourough on write ups. Tested it out on the road and I'm back to full power.

I'm completely happy with it now, and I don't forsee any problems with it hopping off of the TB.

Hey guys.. got the hot side boost tube. install was a snap. However.. the hose clamps provided had me wondering.. two 36's.. the one on the IC was at its max opening.. and the one on the turbo was almost closed all the way. I ended up using some more properly sized clamps from my own stock. Was this so dum dums didnt mix them up? hahaha

Thanks for the purchase and the post. I'll check the parts list to be sure.

NOTE: You must use clamps that have the inner protective ring to prevent chaffing and cutting the silicone hose. So check the ones you use to be sure.

If the clamps were wrong, I would be happy to send replacements. Let me know!

Hey Adam, well aware.. my other toy is a +350whp turbo dodge! I had a few nice t bolt intercooler clamps kicking around that just fit better.

Your package comes with two #36's.. when really it would make life easier with a 32 and a 38 or 40!

regardless the hose looks good and doesnt rub. I have noticed boost coming on quicker and I now frequently see upto 15psi vs. the 13-14psi before... I'll be off to the local dyno soon to confim my seat of the pants claims

I would like to thank Jeff at ALTA for coming through for me in a pinch. I had been fighting an odd boost pressure code that was putting my MINI into limp mode without registering a CEL. My local repair shop was not able to pressure test the intake system. I was in a time crunch as my MINI was scheduled to have its ECU dyno tuned.

I drove up to ALTA and Jeff took a look at my MINI to see if he could figure it out. It passed the pressure test. We took it on a test drive and noticed that he couldn't hear the BOV. I thought I had been hearing it but I was hearing something else (probably the waste gate as it was a noise being made after the BOV should have opened). We went back and checked the BOV. It wasn't plugged in correctly. He removed the connection and plugged it back in. We took it for another test drive and it behaved normally.

I bought all of my ALTA parts about 2 1/2 years ago. Yet Jeff was still willing to work with me to figure out a problem that wasn't being caused by the ALTA parts.

I did go back into limp mode on my way home. However, I believe I may have a intermittent sticky BOV. When it goes into mode, it doesn't sound like the BOV is opening.

Thanks to Jeff, I was able to get my car dyno tuned the following morning. I probably need to get an after market BOV to make my issue completely go away but I think Jeff definitely put me on the right track.

Thank you Jeff for going above and beyond with your customer service. You have always been willing to help.

Rowdy: That makes me miss the hot hatches of the 80's! I used to dream about owning one of those. My UPS guy had a couple and I always felt they were a performance bargain! Keep us posted on the progress!

I'll post up some more when the coil overs show up! I've also got the grille back on it too now.

the mini is like the modern/luxury version of those hot hatches man The Omni is clunky and plasticy inside haha

Can you tell me the size and thread pitch of the drain plug for the R53 Catch Can? Went to clean mine out today and it was missing! I never have used the plug to drain the can, I just use our "fluid sucker" and suck the fluid out from the sight tube.
Thanks!
Jim
