P Fault Codes from OBD 11 Reader

Hey guys,

Can anyone please tell me where I could get the list of all the P Fault codes that the mini throws when in fault mode. I am buying an Auto Xray OBD 11 Code reader and I don't think it will tell me for the mini. It might but I would rather have the list too!!

Thanks for helping

Stephen

So even though these are all BMW Trouble codes, they still apply to the mini then?

Are you getting this code on your MINI?

For the most part, yes. Some will not apply to the MINI.

Yes, I'm getting 1498 on my 05' S. I'm thinking that it releated to the AGS v3 I have.

1498?? Are you sure?
I'm curious because I'm a new MCS owner and a new owner of a OBD II scanner. I can find no reference to a code 1498. Generic or MINI specific????

Just a side note. I bought the scanner because the nearest MINI dealer is 1 1/2 hrs away. So far no trouble codes with the MINI. But, just after the scanner was delivered, I had a MIL trouble light illuminate on my 2001 Chevy Tahoe. Was able to check what was going on. Clear the problem. And I'm back in business. The code reader has already paid for itself.

Let us know what you find with the 1498 code. Sorry I couldn't help.
Regards

I'm in the same boat as you for dealer distance. So I went ahead and bought a code reader too.

In my reference book and searches, I can't find out what the code 1498 is. Somebody told me that it may have to do with an O2 sensor but he wasn't sure.

Still searching to find out what the code 1498 is. Anyone?

I've recently been getting a P1125 code which is not in the above mentioned BMW list or an books that I can find either.

So, there are MINI codes that we are gettting but not listed apparently.

This diagram explains how these codes are read. If you can't locate a specific code
definition, this will at least give you some assistance where the problem may be occurring.

By that diagram, I assuming that code P1498 is Powertrain-Mini Specific-Auxillary Emission Control-98?

Which part of the system is 98?

It is questionable whether OBD-II Code readers will work with your MINI. Peake Research specializes in fault readers for BMW and MINI (R5/EMX) and they are not OBD-II Code readers. See this from Peake's website on their FAQ page regarding the R5/FCXII reader which I believe would also be true for the R5/EMX factory-code scanner, which is their MINI scanner:

R5/FCXII vs. OBDII tools:
1.) The R5/FCXII is not an OBDII device, it is a factory-code scanner. Meaning, it reads the full range of detailed BMW factory codes (which are the same codes the dealer has access to.) In contrast, OBDII tools use a government-mandated, generic code language, and do not read any BMW factory codes. OBDII is not inherently bad, but for BMWs and other European makes, OBDII tools suffer significant limitations. The two most common complaints about OBDII are a.) "unknown code" messages, or misleading codes that prompt unnecessary replacement of perfectly good engine components, and b.) the OBDII device would not reset the service reminder lights.

Our FA53 and FA-Lite Tuning kits will read all OBD2 and BMW Codes for the R50/52/53 (even the pending ones), as well as resetting Adapatation values (in addition to tuning features).
