I broke it :-(

Hello,

I am having some problems and I wanted to get some opinions please. My car is a 2006 MCS with 22k miles. I have a header, exhaust, intake, 17% pulley, Schrick cam, and alta diverter with m7 ram air scoop on the car. I then installed NGK iridium plugs 1 step colder and had the car dyno tuned, 12.5 AFR. All this was done at least 6 months and 10k miles ago. Two weeks ago I added JCW injectors, DT BPV, and VGS. These mods didn't provide the mid-range boost I was hoping for, but did provide a nice improvement at the top end. Driving to work on Monday, my car started to lose power and was running rough. I pulled over, turned the car off, and checked for anything grossly out the ordinary. I didn't find anything, so I started the car and drove to work at a slower pace, no problems. After work, I had a mechanic friend check the code and it said the No. 4 cylinder didn't fire. I checked the plug and wire and all looked good. After a test drive, first slow then faster, all seemed ok. Driving to work on Tuesday, I had the same issue. I turned off the car, restarted it, and drove at a normal pace without issue. After work is where things get interesting. As I got on the autobahn, I drove maybe 1 mile before I lost substantial power. I pulled over to find my number 2 spark plug sitting under the intercooler, threads intact, with part of the spark plug boot missing. I put a plug in it and drove VERY slowly home. The codes said No. 2 & 4 spark plugs didn't fire. I got gas at my usual place on Sunday, 93 US octane, what the car was tuned on. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

I know some people using Denso spark plugs sometimes have their plugs coming loose... It is recommanded to check them on a regular basis...

I have never had this problem with mine though.

Yep.

I turned the key one morning to hear a 'pop' and see smoke pouring out from under the bonnet. I opened to bonnet to see a spark plug laying on the IC.

Soft aluminium head, expands and contracts over time, loosening the plug. When there's only a thread holding it in, BOOM, out it comes.

I rethreaded mine and spent about $4 for the fix altogether. Now, I remove and rethread my plugs at every oil change.

As far as the fouling - my Densos lasted about 25k before they fouled all to heck.

I forgot to mention, the tip(center electrode?) is missing from the spark plug.
