For competitive comparison, DMH had his cylinder head sitting out on Thursday evening and I got a good look at it; it's better than most heads on the market for the MINI, but it's clearly lacking in terms of geometries and finishes compared to the RMW cyl. head. It's of no surprise DMH removed his cylinder head from view soon after Jan arrived, as the DMH head is embarassing in comparison to the RMW head.

Slight side note: RMW's header is also an absolute orgasm in exhaust design and execution. It's flawless welding, fantastic merge collector and collector scavenging tuning is amazing. I'm totally thrilled for all the R53 owners, as they now have two professionally designed and manufactured pieces for their MINI's to bring their power curves to a whole new level. I'm 100% impressed, and that doesn't happen often at all. Congratulations to Jan and Revolution MINI Works, you've really nailed some high-class, intelligent designs!
You know, the earlier antics of some posters who will not be named that attempted to question the merits of the little devils products in this thread reminds me of a joke about the difference between wanna-be tuners and seagulls:

Question: What is the difference between a seagull and a wanna-be tuner?
Answer: The seagull flys in, makes a lot of loud noise, gets everyone running around, disrupts everything, s**ts all over the place and then flys off. The wanna-be tuner does the same thing as the seagull but also sells you a product that doesn't compare to the real thing....

No offense to anyone, but Ryephile's observation about the difference in products was too much to pass up, given the bile that was spilled earlier in this thread.

How did the disciples do on the dyno challenge, or were they too exhausted from there exhaust orgasms to get it up again?

I dont understand why Don and LDG would do that when they've made more whp and torque than Jans head

We all know looks aren't everything

The #'s posted for Jan's head were with no tuning, just a straight head swap.

LOL... seeing the head.. and KNOWING what I got with a stock valve size. If you install that head on your car.. you will be more than able to make that power WITHOUT a tune!!!! and then as you rock up the road you WILL say GEEEEEeessuus !!!!

So IMO the head rocks and anyone who hasnt seen it or doesnt know about head work ( Hands on ) dont listen to all the hype and BS... it is good quality!!

What differance does it make?? I know I can and have made 222 whp on a stock cam/exhaust header/ecu tune.. the heads I do will make more than that, with the stock valve size!! Seeing the "Jesus " head.. I have to say that 10 whp more.. 232 can and will be there.. !! dont get lost in a lot of BS, or shoulda coulda stuff!! this is all new to a lot of MINI owners, and it is hard to wade thru the muck out there to see the actual gains ..... or allowable gains..... Or BS gains, yes??

My head... or Jans head will do what we say.. and more!! the better the mods the more the power.. This I know from actual numbers, and having 35+ years under my belt ( which keeps getting larger as I age..LOL) The head is Great!! and GEEESSSuuuussss is what is said as you stomp the gas!! Tune is another issue, yes??
Thanks

There is a Stickied thread on the Challange in The Dragon section.

The Highlights I gleaned from the thread.

1. No one really knows what happened.
2. Don's own car was the "winner" pulling, uncomfirmed as reported in the thread, 216. LDG has not yet posted the results so that is only anacdotal info.
3. Next best pulled a 191.x
4.Any car that wanted to run but had studs could not be accomadated. The required adapters were not on hand.
5. If I remember correctly all of the M62 Mini's there had studs as do I.

LDG packed up on Sat and went home. I was told from what I wouold think is a reliable source that this was due to electical issues with all the rain. I was also told they did the same thing at a Phil Wicks event due to rain.

Since the tent was empty it was put to good use by some other vendors and then for a party after the banquet Sat night.

As to how the Mini preforms. Ask Mini Fireman when he gats back to Indy. I took him for run. To bad it rained on Sat. I was going to take both SpiderX and BahamaBart for a drive as well.

Lots of other exciting things to report from the the weekend as well, stay tuned.
I wish you had some videos of that rally trip

No Hype 270 must put down 241.3 whp (270-10.9% drivetrain loss) Though there is no dyno sheet for the $9000 No Hype 270 available on DMH web site.

I'm sure LDG and DMH are licking there wounds and are now seeking ways off making more horespower than Jans stuff, well thats what they would do if they were heads up drag racers

I cant wait to see the timeslip for a 12 sec Jesus headed Mini, espically the 60ft.

Edit: Mark - here is a link to their dyno plot on the next page. The max HP on the plot shows 243.19 at 7400 RPM. Max torque on the plot is 190.657 at 4600 RPM. Just wanted to clarify.

Hi Ryan,

Jan is supposed to call me this week. He wants me to get the high temp valves. I hope that in the next few weeks I can get it on the car.

It was great to see you...... I always appreciate your perspective.

honestly the hype from this thread had me a bit turned off but I did say I was sincerely looking for a head to fit with the 62 not to compete with it.....

There is no doubt in my mind that this is by far the top head available for the Mini today. between looking at the head and seeing the craftmanship and just the plain beauty and skill, one could almost mount it....talking with people that have it..... talking with people who know the geneology and development of this head (about 3 years) Dr. O, Tuls, Rye, gnaster, Eric Savage (Helix), Sid Chang (Msfitoy) , of course Jan, and a whole host of others that my pre coffee brain can't remember...... I am very happy with my choice.

the irony is that Dave at DDM did a flash to my Unichip on Sat and the car is running gangbusters..... I gave Sid and Bart a ride on Friday and the car feels a good 10% stronger right now....

cheap promo.... the WMS head is for sale for $850 OBO

I believe their car slapped down 219 whp or something.. and the other car who put down 241.3.. . I seriously do not think thats one of their cars.. no hype my a$$..

I'm glad to here every one made it back from the Dragon. It sounds like you all had a great time. I really wish I could have been there but I really do have a job. I that's shocking because some people think I work for JAN.

It's nice to here from the people that finally got to meet Jan and see his products. Here really is Mini nut and is crazy about making the best products available. I tried to tell everyone about the quality that went into the Jesus head. I understand how people need to see for themselves before they believe what they here. Now allot more people have seen the LIGHT and are spreading the word.

I'm writing from Holland. I finally got my car all put back together on Saturday then I left on Sunday afternoon.

I got the impression that Jan is a real genuine guy from spending the weekend talking with him about the avenue I am heading & what he recommended. If you really sit down and talk with him, he will not steer you in the wrong direction. He has quite a bit more things coming to market that should be as sorted as this head and header very soon.

Needless to say, I went home with a set of CP pistons and put a head on order for my application. It was the most info I could get out of any vendor that is selling heads.

I want to say it was great to meet some of you this past weekend, & I am sorry if I didnt get a chance talk to some as well. I was mooooving pretty slow this weekend, but I am really glad I forced myself to come.
