Added VGS to DT BPV

So just for fun I re-installed the VGS mod tonight on my car. I never really had a chance to try it before because of my valve cover grenade incident. I have had the DT BPV installed for about 3 weeks now and love it. The car feels much more crispy. Throttle response is much better IMO. Every little push of just my big toe on the right pedal results in instant forward
motion.

So after I added the VGS to the DT BPV tonight I took the car around the block and down a 2 lane 55mph road for a bit. I have to say... So far I dont like it.... The car does not feel as crispy as it did before. There seems to be a flat spot now where it feels like I am not only getting much boost, but some is like leaking out or something... Right around 3000-4,500 rpm at about medium throttle. When I open it WOT it is hard to tell if this is still the case.. Or if the car is any faster.

I'll leave it on for tomorrow and check it out a little more while im motoring around. But as far as I can tell right now my car is better with just the DT BPV and NO VGS.

What have you guys found? I have heard many people say that the two mods kinda compliment each other...

Let me know...

Thanks, Jasun

I'd go without. Heck, I don't have one, and my car is faster than yours, so what's the point!
Cheers,

Most would disagree. 1 or the other is best. With both, in most cases, you get higher IATs = not desireable.

Whatever Skottoman!!!!

The saga continues on the quest for making my MINI faster than your
MINI...

I must say after the valve cover incident and adding the DT BPV the car feels much stronger. I think I got something for ya.

I am expecting my areo grills today.. so I am looking forward to installing them and making it look cooler than yours as well

You should of warned me of what I was getting into here with this damn car!
Nikki is ready to leave me..... which is fine as long as she lets me keep the MINI.

I bought Nikki a Volvo XC90, so the MINI is officialy my daily driver now!
The cool mods are starting to happen now. Watch out!!!

Awesome man. I'm glad you love the MINI, it's a way fun toy. Perhaps you're faster than me now.... Hahaha...
Oh and don't let Nikki read these posts. I'm sure you're not the only one who has driven their significant other crazy with MINI stuff. The good thing for me is that my Nikki is more MINI crazy than me!

Looking forward to seeing how your car moves... glad you got it fixed.
Cheers,
Skottoman

You Know I hve been driving around with it for a week now and am Kinda getting used to it. On my car the mid rpm get going with your foot in it short shift isnt as good. With just the DT BPV the car felt much quicker, or responsive, or boosting cleaner, or something... It just felt that at that mid rpm heavy right foot tourqe acceleration that something is missing. Like all the boosted air is not making it to the super charger or something.
With just the BP it was amazing down low from 2-5k rpm ANY little touch to the gas pedal made instant forward movment.

The VGS does seem to be a creamer though, if you just keep in it up to 6,500+ rpm it just unleashes. which is cool. I am not sure if this is more so than when I was running just the BPV alone... could be... I know after the VGS mod that I wanted to feel something... If I did feel gains they would be at the very top of the rpms.
But, I do know that I lost something, and that is the super crispy mid throttle/rpm push on your butt when you just tickle the gas pedal.

All in All I think I will be reversing it soon.

Thanks
